Disable New Products box

Is it possible to disable this throughout the site? I don't add products frequently, so I do not want this to show.

admin > tools > layout controller for the sidebox

admin > configuration > Index listing ... various settings in there. There are (I think) some other switches under admin > configuration but I don't have time to look them up for you.
