text placement on main page

I have used the define pages html editor to put some text on my main page. I have a short paragraph and then it shows a box for new products for June... which btw aren't actually new products for June, but that is another issue. lol

Anyway how do I use the html editor to add a paragraph below the new products for June box???

Dumb quesiton alert!!! Also how do I reduce the space between paragraphs. For example: I wrote a short paragraph, skipped a line, and then put a link. But the space between the paragraph and the link is too big... how do I reduce that?

Re: text placement on main page

If you know anything about html, lose the editor and create your main page, privacy, shipping, etc. elsewhere. You'll be much happier with the results. It's what's putting those god-awful spaces in by itself.

The template system creates a layout for the main page and adding a group of text under the new products (they still show up randomly if you have nothing actually new) would mean coding a define for the text or modifying the page to include the actual text. You could just turn off the new products and add your text to the bottom of the main page text.

Re: text placement on main page

Thanks.
OK. I can do that. But if I create the pages with my html editor instead of with Zen Cart... where do I put them? Do I overwrite the ones in the cart somewhere, somehow?

Re: text placement on main page

Zen has a lovely feature called Override or Custom template. It allows you to modify many files and preserve them in folders that will will not be overwritten on upgrade.
As you modify a file, you add it to it's corresponding override directory.
Too involved to go into here and I might leave something out. Best to search for Override to find things like a list of override directories.
