Can not get email notifications - new install

I linked up the cart with my PayPal account OK. Purchased something from myself. The money transfered to PayPal account OK, I can see there. As a customer I received the confirmation email OK. But as a store owner, got no email. (definitely nothing, checked the spam filters) Also, PayPal normally sends me notifications of the payment received when using their system, this time nothing came from PayPal. From the tools menu was able to send email to admin, it came through. It is a new thing for me, must be missing something obvious to others...:huh:

Admin->Configuration->Email Options ... what is the email address you entered for sending copies of order-confirmation emails?

When you set up PayPal, did you configure PDT ?

What is PDT?
I use the same email for sending and receiving, my own, not Yahoo. It never was a problem in the past for testing purposes. Are you hinting it should not work?

Sorry, can't vouch for PayPal's issues. I suppose if they didn't get the email address or if they found it invalid or if "how" they sent it caused it to end up in a spam filter then it wouldn't get to you.

Ok, thank you for your help! It turns out that only some of my problems existed. I was getting emails from the cart, but they are phrased exactly like ones the customer was getting, so I got confused into thinking that they all were addressed to the test customer :-(
The PayPal thing is still outstanding. I talked to their support, they implied that something is wrong with their system . I suspect that in follow up that they promised, it comes out that they do not notify when they get a transaction like that. Makes sense?

No, doesn't make sense. I'm not sure what you mean by "like that".

The normal operation with a Zen Cart transaction includes:

• customer gets Zen Cart email for order receipt
• customer gets PayPal email for payment receipt
• owner gets Zen Cart email copy of order receipt
• owner gets PayPal email showing received funds

I thought that when the Zen Cart passes the info to PayPal, PayPal does not shoot the email, as I am already notified by Zen. What you are saying makes more sense, as I want to see confirmation from both. As of today, PayPal does not notify me when I make a test buy thru Zen. It just notified me when a real sale happened through the PayPal cart. PayPal support promised to get back to me in 24 hours

What version of Zen Cart are you using ? v1.3.7 or v1.3.7.1 ?

Did you install the most recent PayPal patch from the thread I posted a link to above? The most recent at this time is the June 17 version, which includes all prior fixes from that thread.

OK, I installed it this morning. The PayPal notification started to work!!! The cart notification stopped to work. Just before the upgrade it was the other way around...

Oops, found out that in applying the patch I missed one file ipn_main_handler; now it works!
