Lightbox not showing additional images OR pre/next buttons

Hi-

Ive installed ligthbox and named all my files correctly and put them in the images/large folder, but for some reason they are not appearing anywhere on the site, especially not in lightbox. when i click on the MED image, what opens is the lightbox with the SAME medium image on display! additionally, my previous and next buttons dont show up anywhere.

Please, can someone tell me what i missed?

the files in the images/large folder are: journalgraph_01_LRG.jpg and journalgraph_02_LRG.jpg. the medium one that's showing up is simply journalgraph.jpg in the main images folder.

Not sure how to answer your question correctly, but did you turn on additional under product type? How did you get your attribute to show up as "Starting at"

Correction: Lightbox opens with the Thumbnail image, not the medium one.

CORRECTION: (yikes...) ok. so, the real story is, there is no rhyme or reason to what image opens upon clicking the product info images. some open with the same (MED) image, some open with the thumbnail, and one even opens with the CATEGORY image of the same name, even though that image has a CAT_ prefix on it!

I'm starting to think this may not be a lightbox problem at all, and instead may be something up with my zencart or something. i'll try uninstalling and reinstalling lightbox to see if that helps.

I'm curious about what you're suggesting here... can you be a little more specific for me? I looked for such an option on the admin/catalogue/categories/products pages and in admin/configuration/images but didnt spot anything that looked like an on/off switch for additional images. can you help direct me? thanks :smile:

ok, im sure you're gonna want to shoot me soon. when i go to catalog/product types i get a menu that has the 5 options, the only one of which is relevant is Product-General. clicking on that gives me the options of 'edit' and an 'edit layout'. in edit layout, there are a number of things to turn on and off, but not 'additional images' or anything like it.

im running v1.3.7, are you running the same?

Yes, I have the same version. You are in the right section...when you click on edit layout it's the 12 item down

hehe... so, yea, i am officially blind, and yes, you were right, 'show product additional images' was turned off. sincerest apologies.

so, the bad news is, besides discovering a severe increase in near-sightedness, that when i turned it on, nothing changed.

do you happen to know if IH2 is required for lightbox? i see in the templates\CUSTOM\templates\pl_modules_main_product_image.php there is an a href call for an IH2_url... perhaps thats my problem?

No, image handle 2 is not required for lightbox to work.

so.. still having the same problem with my additional images not showing up or any previous-next tabs appearing. ive been able to make a little headway in that by going through and renaming my large images to xxx_LRG.jpg i can get one image to appear in lightbox, but it only works on some images. Additionally, i can't get the 2nd and 3rd large images to come up, either.

ok, i figured it out. and i really hope that this wasn't painfully clear to everyone else, but somehow i failed to understand this small step:

IF you want multiple lightbox images, you must have the corresponding root images in the main directory. For example: if i want to show 3 large photos in the lightbox, then i need to have all SIX of these files in place:

images/linedjournal.jpg
images/linedjournal_01.jpg
images/linedjournal_02.jpg

images/large/linedjournal_LRG.jpg
images/large/linedjournal_01_LRG.jpg
images/large/linedjournal_02_LRG.jpg

if you only have the large images in place, like i did, lightbox wont understand that you also want to show them; for some reason it only picks up the presence of a large photo if theres a corresponding main photo to alert it.

and of course, having Catalog>Product types>Product-General>Show product additional image ON, that helps too :smile:

Great, are you able to have one picture on the product page and cycle through your mult images from lightbox?

the only way i can get a multi-image cycle to open up in lightbox is to have those additional image thumbnails also on the product page. if i turn off 'show additional images', even if i have put the additional images in the main and large directories, they wont show up in lightbox. im am considering a CSS workaround where i can set their display to 'hidden' or to 1px by 1px.

the main reason to keep the thumbnails around is b/c if someone doesn't have javascript, when they click on the product image to enlarge it, they will only see that particular image in a new window, and not any of the subsequent ones that you would normally see in lightbox. so, having those extra thumbnails will allow a non-javascript user to see what everyone else sees :cool:

I tried your fix and the lightbox is working on my end, thanks. One other question, when I have the second image for a product the size is much bigger than the first image and both images are 280x280. Any thoughts

My lightbox was working fine then shortly after installing Image Handler 2 I discovered that my additional images don't load in the lightbox and the prev/next image buttons are missing, the images are opening in a new browser window. The main large image still loads in lightbox just fine.
I have re-uploaded the lightbox files but it made no difference.

Any ideas how I can find out what is causing the problem?

I am having the same issue but im not sure if its lightbox related or a template issue.

I am on zencart 1.3.8a and using Darkness template

I have uploaded my images and all seem to be named correctly as i can see them in my browser.

I have also added an extra image as mentioned in this thread

/images/COM02_1_LRG.jpg

But i still cant get them to show up in lightbox or on the product page.

I have got additional images enabled in product info.

Any suggestions?

For anyone else having this problem, I fixed it with a simple re-install.

I had installed Slimbox then installed IH2 and got the problem of no additional images on the product page, after much digging around and blaming IH2, I found a simple cure.

Re-install the additional_images.php that came with Slimbox.

It's in Slimbox-includes-modules-Your_template_folder-

You just install it into the corresponding folder in your root-includes-modules-Your_template_folder.

Problem solved

Easy when you know how :smile:
