How to disable stock quantity?

How can I disable the area where I list how many of a certain product. If I leave it blank it posts the Sold Out button. My stock varies and keeping track of it online will not be viable.

Re: How to disable stock quantity?

Perhaps a search of the forum or FAQs would answer a few of your questions? The e-Start Your Web Store book is a worthwhile investment too.

Re: How to disable stock quantity?

Kim:

Got the book and it does not say how to disable the "In Stock:" display. Also can not find any answer on the forum or tutorials. Any ideas on how we can get an answer on how to do this?

Re: How to disable stock quantity?

Found the answer! WooHoo!

Go go under Product Types under the Catalog header and then click the "edit layout", You will see the line to change so the "In Stock:" quantity does not show.

Re: How to disable stock quantity?

You have a really neat looking site - And your Product descriptions (like a lot of others) is a very good description...
However, it is 'centered text' which makes it a bit ragged looking on both ends of each line. I am anal about text (and you do not have to be like me - smile)... but using your style sheet you can fix that to look correctly left-justified...

I found productListing-data in your style sheet. See below

.centeredContent, th, #cartEmptyText, #cartBoxGVButton, #cartBoxEmpty, #cartBoxVoucherBalance, #navCatTabsWrapper, #navEZPageNextPrev, #bannerOne, #bannerTwo, #bannerThree, #bannerFour, #bannerFive, #bannerSix, #siteinfoLegal, #siteinfoCredits, #siteinfoStatus, #siteinfoIP, .center, .cartRemoveItemDisplay, .cartQuantityUpdate, .cartQuantity, .cartTotalsDisplay, #cartBoxGVBalance, .leftBoxHeading, .centerBoxHeading, .rightBoxHeading, .productListing-data, .accountQuantityDisplay, .ratingRow, label#textAreaReviews, #productMainImage, #reviewsInfoDefaultProductImage, #productReviewsDefaultProductImage, #reviewWriteMainImage, .centerBoxContents, .specialsListBoxContents, .categoryListBoxContents, .additionalImages, .centerBoxContentsSpecials, .centerBoxContentsAlsoPurch, .centerBoxContentsFeatured, .centerBoxContentsNew, .gvBal, .attribImg {

  • text-align: center;*
  • }

If you want to let the other data in the list remain centered and only have product listing left justified - perform the following:

cut productListing-data from where it is and paste it after the text-align: center; as shown below and change text-align from center to left as shown below:

.productListing-data {
text-align: left;
}

H Ajeh,

I have three categories, the one I don't want the quantity to show is the photograph category. What distinguuishes which should or not have quanitty? the photographs have attributes (print sizes) attached to them while the other categories don't. I am able to change layouts for the photograph specific category using css, but cannot figure out how to disable the quantity just for the photographs category?

Any ideas?

Re: How to disable stock quantity?

Do these Products all belong to the same master_categories_id or do you mean the only Products with Attributes should not show the quantities?

Re: How to disable stock quantity?

You could use a function to see if there are attributes and if so, then do not display the stock:

  function zen_has_product_attributes($products_id, $not_readonly = 'true') {

Using that function on your templates and overrides such as:

  <?php echo (($flag_show_product_info_quantity == 1 && !zen_has_product_attributes((int)$_GET['products_id'])) ? '<li>' . $products_quantity . TEXT_PRODUCT_QUANTITY . '</li>'  : '') . "\n"; ?>

Re: How to disable stock quantity?

Hi,
I'm running zencart on 2 shopping carts and this is the first time I've run into this. When adding a new item, I checked it by acting as if I were going to purchase it by adding it to the cart. I get this message:

Please update your order ...
Product Name: 5 Gallon Value Package ... Quantity Units errors -
You ordered a total of: 1 Units: 30

Comes up in a yellow warning box. I've gone thru the admin section and changed everything I can find under Configuration and Catalog but it still keeps coming up. When I had quantity set to 0, I got a Sold Out icon. Are you saying I need to change the source code? If so, which file do I change?

Thanks!
