Two currencies with separate shipping rates?

Hi, I am just finishing setting up a zen cart site for my client, it can be found at: http://realdnahair.streamlinenettrial.co.uk

My client wants the site in two currencies, GBP and US dollars. I have done this without a problem. However, I'm completely stuck on how to set up COMPLETELY SEPARATE shipping rates for each currency. I see no way to do this and cannot find any shipping modules that do this. Basically i need three zone-based rates for orders placed in pounds (UK zone, Euro zone, International Zone) and then ANOTHER 2 rates for orders placed in dollars (US zone, International zone).

The reason is that customers ordering in dollars from the US need to benefit from local shipping costs, whereas customers ordering in pounds from UK need the same benefit. this means the only solution is currency-specific shipping rates.

Does such a thing exist? Please help!!

Thanks

Re: Two currencies with separate shipping rates?

sorry, anyway the other one has been closed so please if anybody knows anything let me know here or by private message. i'm starting to worry this can only be done with two entirely separate stores (!) which would be disastrous for me and my client!

:shocking:

Re: Two currencies with separate shipping rates?

May I ask. Why base your shipping on currency used and not the shipping location? What would happen if someone in the UK remains on the Dollar currency and order something. Are you going to charge the Dollar based shipping rate?

I would suggest you setup shipping zones and charge acoording to the customer delivery address irrespective of the currency used to pay. Let me know if you need further info on this option. There are a number of ways to handle this.

Re: Two currencies with separate shipping rates?

Believe me that seems like the obviousy solution to me! the reason is because my client will ship anything paid for in dollars from the US depot, and anythin in GBP from the UK. she wants to accept the money into separate accounts with her HSBC secure ePayments system, so I guess it's for currency conversion charge reasons that she is shipping things in this way, and therefore wants shipping based on currency.

thanks again

Re: Two currencies with separate shipping rates?

I am not aware of any Currency based shipping modules but maybe somebody else can help.

Just to clarify a potential problem. I am in the UK and order something using $ as payment. This method will now ship the product to me from the US and NOT from the (more logical and closer) GBP store? Just asking.

Re: Two currencies with separate shipping rates?

That's correct. hence the need for different shipping rates based on the currency you choose. I am going to have one more attempt convincing my client to do it the normal way because it seems crazy to me too. we'll see!

thanks for your help
