setting up zone-specific product category?

Our company is based in the UK but we are setting up fulfillment in the USA.

If I create a new category for only the products we are selling in the USA with their own prices etc. can I:

1. have it so that any other products are somehow disabled if the customer is in the USA zone ?

2. Is there a way to display the prices of just one category folder in a different currency from the main cart default currency?

Correct me if I am wrong, but...

Unless you can get them to "Log In" the only indication of the browsers zone would be from DNS. The zone isn't determined until you see their address.

You could try a splash page with a location selector and install 2 seperate stores. You'd just need to duplicate your cart and have one in a folder called uk and one in a folder called us. Theres an add on for multi site admin so you could control both stores from 1 admin panel.
