Zencart install images/colour not working

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get a test site using zencart. I already have a live site up and ready everything is well with it. But for testing purpose I need to get the same site going on a diffferent host.
I tried to install copying over the files to the other host to find zen cart installation goes through all ok, but none of the images work at al, when i mean images i mean anything at all. If i use the classic green template provided with zen nothing comes up just the text, no colour or graphics, any idea what this could be?

Did you edit your includes/configure.php and your admin/includes/configure.php files to reflect the location of the new version of your site?

What I did as placed the install files for zen 137 and installed the cart hence this changed both config files? Is there something else that should be done?

Do you have a link to your new site? Can you be more specific about what you mean by the install files and what you did to install the new site? Did you create a new database? If so, how did you populate it?

I will go thro the steps i have done.

1. Upload all files to the new domain
2. Place the Zen_install files for 1.37
3. Go through all steps of installation
4. finish install
5. Modify config files
6. Installation goes all fine, but when checking the site or admin there is no colour or imaging at all.

Where the files you uploaded from your original site, and if so was that site a 1.3.7 Zen Cart?

By Zen Install files, do you mean the zc_install folder from the 1.3.7 release package?

Your description doesn't tell us whether you created a new database or are using a copy of your existing one.

By going through the installation, do you mean running zc_install in your browser? If so, you will have wiped whatever database you were using.

Please would you explain what modifications you made to the config files? If you've gone through the installation process, no modifications are needed.

There's quite a few steps involved in what you've done. The clearer we are on each of them, the easier it will be to spot which one went wrong.

The files I uploaded were from the orginal site
Created a new database
Yes the installation was through zc_install on browser
Sorry no I did not make any changed to the modification file as the install overwrites it as you have said.

What would be the best to start again?
All i want to do is be able to copy the original files over so I can carry out testing.

Key questions that remain unanswered are whether you have a link to your site so that we can see it's current state (that would dramatically cut down on the number of questions that need to be asked) and what version of Zen Cart you original site was.

If I understand correctly, you have simply copied your files from the previous site which will have brought any mods that you have done, including to your template, which is fine.

You have then run the Zen Cart installation, I am assuming on the installer that came from your original site, though there is a hint in one of you posts that you might have taken this from a fresh release package - if that's the case and it's from a different version of Zen Cart, then that would be a problem. Otherwise, you will have created configuration files that link to your new database - which is a good thing.

What you haven't mentioned at all in your posts, is moving the data from your old database to your new new on. If you haven't done this, what state is your database in? Have you added your products manually?

i am having the same issues just posted a thread myself it is driving me mental no template images just red x's where the buttons should be stuff missing in dropdown menus in admin site infact my admin is just a white page with x's instead of buttons and just a long list down one side is this right??
i have installed it and uninstalled it several times now following instructions to the letter what am i doing wrong ???:frusty::censored::wacko:

what aabout the issue with my admin?

The file's purpose is to deny external access to your php scripts, it shouldn't be denying internal access. So disabling it does leave you with a small security hole. How you make it compatible or whether there are already other protective measures in place on your web server is something that you would need to discuss with your webhost.

and what about my admin control panel how doi remedy that one it has the same issues

Same issue. There's a .htaccess file in your admin/includes folder.
