Need advice. pages are really, really ssllooowwww to load

I installed zencart here:

http://www.steelguitar.com/zencart/

The installation say it was successful but the pages are iterminably slow loading.

I turned gzip on and it took even longer.

I am hosting with 1and1 using a developer package.
Any suggestions or insights would b e appreciated.

First - do a search for your hosting on the forum.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

OK. I get it. Unfortrunately, I can't make the switch. That means I'll end up continuing to use using CGI appplications similar to the ones we use now. I've tested other carts including Cartweaver but Zencart had the best features and ease of use for me. The only problem was the performance hit at 1and1.com. This was not apparent with the other carts.

This is due to the lack of mysql optimization.
