Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

HI
I am carrying this thread over from:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70104

here is my url: http://canvas-style-art.co.uk/shop/

here is the error message (which you can see if you goto the above url):

Warning: session_save_path() [function.session-save-path]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/shop/cache) is not within the allowed path(s): (/tmp:/usr/share/pear:/home/fhlinux173/c/canvas-style-art.co.uk/user) in /home/fhlinux173/c/canvas-style-art.co.uk/user/htdocs/shop/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 151

any ideas people?

here is the code from a configure.php file in the includes folder on the SSL partition minus the password:

<?php /** * * @package Configuration Settings * @copyright Copyright 2003-2006 Zen Cart Development Team * @copyright Portions Copyright 2003 osCommerce * @license <http://www.zen-cart.com/license/2_0.txt> GNU Public License V2.0 */ /*************** NOTE: This file is similar, but DIFFERENT from the "admin" version of configure.php. ***********/ /*************** The 2 files should be kept separate and not used to overwrite each other. ***********/ // Define the webserver and path parameters // HTTP_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg, <http://www.yourdomain.com> // HTTPS_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg, <https://www.yourdomain.com> define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://canvas-style-art.co.uk'); define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com'); // Use secure webserver for checkout procedure? define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true'); // NOTE: be sure to leave the trailing '/' at the end of these lines if you make changes! // * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL) // these paths are relative to top of your webspace ... We recommend using the "cache" folder inside the Zen Cart folder // ie: /path/to/your/webspace/public_html/zen/cache -- leave no trailing slash define('SQL_CACHE_METHOD', 'database'); define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/shop/cache'); ?>

does that all seem fine?

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

Try getting the fix_cache_key mod in the downloads area and run it

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

ran that got this:

Cache Settings Synchronization Tool

Recommendations

Possible appropriate cache directory for your site is: /home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/shop/cache

Actual Information

Read DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE from configure.php: /home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/shop/cache
Found SESSION_WRITE_DIRECTORY in database: /home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/shop/cache

No changes required.
Exiting.
Security

PLEASE DELETE THIS FILE FROM YOUR SERVER NOW!!
Removing this file (fix_cache_key.php) from your server protects you from would-be hackers/predators who might seek to compromise your serve

any more ideas guys?:frusty:

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

Well that verifies that the DB and the configure.php entry match but from your error message these do not seem to be fully compare correctly
Insure that your Hosting path is correct:

/usr/share/pear:/home/fhlinux173/c/canvas-style-art.co.uk/user)

/home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/shop/cache

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

File(/home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/shop/cache) is not within the allowed path(s):

This spawns the sessions.hp error and I doubt that it is the file your referenced or anything in it.

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

reinstalled zen in both parts of the server (ssl & normal side) but still getting:

Warning: session_save_path() [function.session-save-path]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/fhlinux173/c/canvas-style-art.co.uk/user/htdocs/shop/cache) is not within the allowed path(s): (/tmp:/home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com) in /home/default/canvas-style-art.ssl-01.com/user/htdocs/shop/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 151

can someone walk me through how to sort this out please ( if you look above its all there)

Cheers

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

ok i did all that above but i also ran fix_cache_key.php on the SSL side all fine there (it sorted out a error problem) but i also ran it on the normal server side and now it comes up with this error:

Not Found

The requested URL /shop/zc_install/index.php was not found on this server.

I don't want to re-install zen its already there but now i cant even get the shop up on the browser, check it out;

http://www.canvas-style-art.co.uk/shop

Anyone know why its done this!!!????

Not Found

The requested URL /shop/zc_install/index.php was not found on this server. This means that the configure.php file is either missing or contains default settings or the database info in it is invalid and thus it thinks it must be a new install, so it's attempting to start the installer.

It's a lot easier to do SSL on a host server that lets you run both your SSL and non-SSL content from one folder, not separate folders. Most good hosts can set that up for you.

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

yeah i can imagine this to be true but when your new to this and its your first attempt you go with the host that you think to be the best in every dept and then you encounter these minor tech difficulties, but by now i am tied into them for 2 years and have to work around it....grrr

so you say "Most good hosts can set that up for you" shall i go back to streamline.net and ask them to combine the ssl and non ssl into one server?

my gut feeling is they wouldn't have gone to that much trouble setting their servers up like that for people to come alone and tell them its not right, but as ever i could be well off the mark.

or shall i try to solve the issue of the configure.php file which to be honest is becoming tedious now, i am even thinking of buying a professional cart just for the support because i am going around in circles, i should be further down the road now but 5 days later i am still sorting out installation issues.

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

Yes, ask them to change the appropriate settings so that you can "run both your SSL and non-SSL content from one folder".

Sometimes that means they need to set up a symlink for the httpsdocs to point to the httpdocs folder.
Sometimes that means they need to check a certain box in your account profile.
Sometimes that means they may need to put your account on another server.

If they cannot or will not, you could always tell them that you are not satisfied with the services they're providing and get released from your 2-year contract, with refund.
There are a number of great hosts on your "hosting" partners page (see link at top of this screen).

Remember ... even if you use a different program, you'll likely run into the same kind of problems if you use a dynamic/database-driven software to run your ecommerce site.

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

Hi,

Eggrush, I'm in exactly the same position as you. I've bought some non-SSL and SSL space with streamline.net (wish I'd read your posts first!), and can get ZenCart working fine in the non-SSL space, but am struggling in the SSL. We both need to be aware though, that they have been having some pretty horrendous problems with their FTP server and I found that, until recently, many of the files I was uploading just weren't arriving, so its worth checking everything is there to begin with (I'm trying FTP Commander as a tool to compare local and remote dirs). If you're struggling with getting anything but stock answers from streamline.net it might be worth mentioning that they themselves recommend ZenCart, and also that given the horrible FTP problems, they might consider being a bit more helpful.

I'm still trying to work out how to get SSL pages working (I have the "e-Start your Web Store with ZenCart" book, but its a bit lite in this area), and am relying heavily on the forum posts here. What I have done so far (and I plead with any other forum members to scream at me if this is wrong!), is to upload the full set-up files to both the SSL and non-SSL spaces, then run the install from both (one after the other, not simultaneously), choosing not to enable SSL when asked. The setup in the SSL area will be slower beacause of the extra processing required. I pointed both installs at the same database, and then once installation was over went into the configure.php files and made the changes described elsewhere in this forum. However, I am now experiencing the same open_basedir restriction problem you mention, and have submitted a support ticket to streamline.net about it. I tried the mod mentioned earlier in this thread but it didn't fix the problem. Otherwise everything seems OK. (see http://www.fattaffguides.co.uk/storedemo )

Did you sort out the htacccess problems you were having? I just renamed the files and the problem went away, but I'm conscous that I'm going to have to look again at this when it comes to securing my site.

Re: Error Message after SSL installation - streamline.net

OK NOT A SOLUTION, BUT POSSIBLY A WORKAROUND!

I've got a reply from streamline.net who say:

"I think what you may need to do is copy the image files ( any any files that are being used/ linking back to the ssl ) into the ssl server aswell. At the moment the ssl server will not like retreiving images and files from non secure areas. "

Not sure that helps (or is relevant!), but what I have also done is to turn off SQL cacheing completely i.e. define('SQL_CACHE_METHOD', 'none'); in all four configure.php files (2 in SSL, 2 in non-SSL). This seems to work, and gets rid of the error message allowing the secure pages to load. However, I'm not entirely comfortable doing this, and am still evaluating the consequencies of doing so - any comments welcome!!!!
