How do I make Cart work on my existing site.

Hi, I would like to know how to make the cart work with my existing site? I have my own domain and html design and my site has been up and running for a while. I have been reading about "Going Live", but I guess I am not understanding this part of the set-up. Is there an easier way to just add shopping cart buttons and images?

I am also confused as to why there is a catalogue page? Does it serve as another means for the customer to view my products or can I just not use it altogether? Or is it literally a "Catalogue" feature where I can lump the jist of the site together as a printed catalogue?

Not with Zen Cart. It is designed to be your whole site application.
