Product model defined per option value

Please bear with me if this has been asked before, I haven't been able to find the answer

We have a product which is made in 6 colours and 2 sizes.
The most convenient way to display it for customers is to have 6 products (they have different names) with 2 option values showing the 2 sizes.

Problem is that I still have only one product model whereas I would need two, one per option.

Example:
Product: Blue Baby Carrier

Option1: Size 1 is product model CB1
Option2: Size 2 is product model CB2

Is there a way to implement this or do I have to duplicate all the products to have:
Blue Baby Carrier Size 1: product model CB1
Blue Baby Carrier Size 2: product model CB2

... not sure if this is very clear?
thanks for your help:smile:

You're in a long line of people who want this functionality, the "Stock by attributes and attributes SKU" is coming in v1.4. Their is a thread here asking for it and a few others.
