How to charge a flat rate on some products, and calculated on others.

I need to be able to charge a flat rate on about 15 products that are very heavy and have to be shipped by truck. Everything else can be UPS calculated. How can I do this? I tried selecting "free shipping" and added the flat rate to the products, but it is still charging UPS shipping.

You would have to write a custom shipping module to manage these products ...

But what happens when these products are in the same order as other products?
