Apple Zen Support Thread

SPH:

I mean the main navigation part, the Shopping Cart moves under Home.

You can see it by pasting my site

http://www.prommart.com/

in to the online browser view I use and selecting IE 6 & IE7:

http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/index.php

When I take out one of the navigation cells, it should look okay (although it does show the pink expages nav I'm not using):

http://www.prom-mart.com/

you should be able to move the coding in that drop down menu file in your apple_zen template folder to wherever you wish.

I know the site I did this for he had name changes has other things his way there...lol but he did try to move the shopping cart to under home and set something else there for the empty space---which later I found could have been dealt with by making the navigation area wider....in the css file for AZ template

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

I've already widened the template and nav menu, to what the designer suggested in a very early post. Since this template does not go by pixels, it's a guess if I wanted to go wider.

As much as I like the seo idea behind AppleZen, I'm finding that the drop-down menu is risky, browser-wise. Several of our people are seeing different things.

Perhaps swapping out the drop down menu for one of Find em Fast's might work?

Or just go back to more standard templates. I've noticed that others can do SEO, having a standard left col but having it all appear at bottom of View Source, as with AppleZen, bringing the products toward top: if seo optimization of products is the criteria.

Drop-down/Fly-out menus are great for seo, so search engines can see all categories and subcategories: they are always "open" to engines but tidy for customers; not all going down side.

Just not sure about AppleZen's stability, although it is a fairly old template, should be stable for all browsers?

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Did a fix by taking out the Contact Us tab in the top menu, and the menu is now stable in IE6-9 per my online screen shot link. Shopping Cart tab no longer wraps under Home in IE 6 & 7.

I put Contact Us in the Customer Service (Information) drop down via an ezpage link.

We also have a custom footer menu with everything; redundant but looks nice & professional...I think.

So looks like we're with AppleZen, as we wish to be for various reasons.

https://www.prommart.com

PS: Since I'm not 100% certain about the drop-down menu, I'm keeping the manufacturers (designers) sidebox for now as an alternative for customers. Also looking at the Category Select Drop Down which is similar, but I'm not sure if as stable as zencart's built-in manufacturers sidebox.

Need a drop-down/fly-out for SEO (subcats open for search engines) and tidying up categories via subcats.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Okay, I found out what original problem was with Shopping Cart wrapping under Home in IE6&7 (which google anaylitics say alot of our customers still use.)

When I widened the site via the stylesheet css, I also widened the style sheet header menu css. Mistake. I reset the style sheet header menu css back to original 70em and now everything is fine, per my online screen shot tester.

So, can widen the site somewhat with stylesheet, but don't widen the style sheet header menu css.

So now I don't have to take out any nav items, and put Contact Us back.

Found this out by testing the new zencart 1.5.0 and uploading AppleZen on a test site and began trouble shooting with original AppleZen.

In case anyone wishes to know.

In the ones I have made adjustments to I have not needed to use the the other files I just placed the direct link to the item then changed the name to what we needed it to be.

without a link we have no way to actually see what you are talking about so that is the guess you get

Thanks Dark Angel,
this is the link: http://store.ornellosport.com/ and I'm talking about the drop down menu on the left "online store".
I have to change the dropdown links "nuovi prodotti" e "recensioni".
I think that changing "nuovi prodotti" to what I need can be done in the headermenu.php file.
The problem is changing the currrent http://store.ornellosport.com/index.php?main_page=products_new to the url that I need.

Thanks for your hints

well remember to also work off a duplicate file and save the original one in case it gets messed up. sometimes placing a ~ at the end after the word php (.php~) will save the original online---sometimes it confuses the software.

ok, now as I said I did not change anything else and since you are also changing the link then it can probably be done the same way...but be careful for it does put up a fight at times...lol

iIn the following code (just an example for you to see) replace the red area with your link, the replace the blue with the name you want to call it---can be done for both places:

for new products (nuovi proditti):

<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_PRODUCTS_NEW); ?>"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_NEW_PRODUCTS; ?></a></li>

so it will look somewhat like this:

<li><a href="place_url_here">new name here</a></li>

do the same for the recensioni too

that gives you the new link you want (red) and the new name too (blue)

hope i did not confuse you--I am very good at that

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

I am just wondering if anyone knows the font used for the included logo at the top of the page for the Apple Zen theme...and whether or not it is free or purchaseable? I really like this font and would like to use it if I can! :smile:

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

julian.c.lopez03:

I am using godaddy for hosting. I have been building my cart site for about 1 month now. I am down to the last two issues I cannot seem to fix by searching through the forums.

1.) BLUE TEXT IN THE PHOTO BELOW:
I want to change the "*Required Information" text color to blue. I tried inserting: .alert {color: #0000FF;margin-left: 0.5em;} inside the stylesheet and it still did not work. Please help! Any ideas.

2.) GREEN TEXT IN THE PHOTO BELOW
I want to move the Zip Code text box to the left hand side of the screen so it lines up with the other text boxes on the My Account page.

3.) In the drop down menu the background color of the Sub Categories for Cigars is a different color than the categories background color. I want to make all the drop down menu background colors the same. Where is the color code located for the background of the sub categories in the drop down menu.

THANKS EVERYONE

website address is the following:
elcubanocigars.com/shop

love the richness of your store, looks good but alas

i can not see what exactly you want to change color of for you left out the pictures.

but the file you may want to look at is tpl_drop_menu.php in your includes/templates/apple_zen/css/stylesheet.css
remember to work off a duplicate so original is safe.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

http://www.prom-mart.com/index.php?main_page=create_account

It looked like my test site link above, still with right column.

Captcha worked and looked perfect.

One column is an alternative that comes with this template in the Read Me file. Globally turn off right column and insert this code in stylesheet, copied below asterisks.

I use IE9 but have Firefox. It shows that the post code is .inputLabel #postcode. But I can't find that in the stylesheet to try and float it left.

  1. If you would not like ANY sideboxes on this site, simply go to your admin under "Configuration", then "Layout Settings", and set the "Column Right Status - Global" to "0". This will turn off both left and right sideboxes globally, whether or not any of them are set to "on" under "Layout Boxes Controller". Then add this to your stylesheet:

#centerColumnWrapper2 {
background:#ffffff!important;
}

.centerColumn {
float:left!important;
width:95%!important;
}

I have a client that uses this template too and although he has a custom create account we never had that problem until he created the custom one...it looked right but then I did not edit that part of the stylesheet.css

we have the left side turned off only leaving the right side showing.

our code is like this--which is the original one:

#centerColumnWrapper2 {
margin:0 .5em;
width:70em;
}
#centerColumnWrapper2b {
margin:0 auto;
overflow:hidden;
width:70em;
}
.centerColumn {
width:75%;
float:left;
margin:0 2% 2% 3%;
text-align:left;
line-height:1.6em;
display:inline; /* fixes IE Bug in IE6 and earlier - do not remove */
}

check to make sure you do not have both codes in your stylesheet....try removing one to see if that works or reapply the one you removed and remove the other one to test after refreshing the store page.

No, did not work to move zip code field to left.

I really want this template to work. But I'm finding little things that might add up to not using it, especially when IE is set to Compatability View (we cannot control how customers may set their browsers.)

true but that is going to happen with any template. especially when the browsers get updated, then no telling what the customer is gonna see or us for that matter.

have you done any editing to your files other than adding this mod?
