Apple Zen Support Thread

OJM:

Hi,

I'm new to Zen Cart, so apologies if I'm missing something simple...

My uncle has just purchased a shop with RentACart, and has asked me to help setup the pre-installed Zen Cart. I have selected the pre-purchased Apple Zen template, but I can't get the product categories to show in the drop down menu.

Here's a screenshot of what's going on;

Any ideas please?

Many thanks!

Could I see a link please? Also, is this the most recent version of Apple Zen?

define_editable_sidebox_content.php
I installed this on my sideboxes. It is working correctly except the HEADER reads "YOUR HEADER IN HERE"
WHERE DOES THIS HTML FILE LIVE SO I CAN PUT IN THE PROPER HEADING?
Thanks so much im :lamo:

I have no idea, I haven't ever used that. This thread is for apple zen related questions. I'm happy to help, but I'm not available to answer your every question, when others are probably more suited to do so. Do you also realize that in web etiquette, all caps means that you are yelling?

How do i change the heading MORE information to fit the bar

It fits in my test site, but you can make this font size for:

h3.leftBoxHeading, h3.rightBoxHeading a bit smaller in the css.

**IMAGE HANDLER PROBLEM
JADE
I keep getting this error message with IH. I have checked every
folder and everything is installed. The page reads in the admin
but not everything is correct. In the site page it reads below 4 times
:lamo:
**
Warning: imagejpeg(): Unable to open '/hsphere/local/home/XXXXXXX/XXXX.com/XXXXX/bmz_cache/0/098870b4ea749ddd54fc3c6b62e5fe93.image.29x40.jpg' for writing in /hsphere/local/home/XXXXX/XXXXX.com/XXXXX/includes/classes/bmz_image_handler.class.php on line 652

I dunno, I would ask this in the IH2 thread. Perhaps it is a permissions issue (do your image folders have the correct permissions?)

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Hi! I'm new to Zen Cart and this template, so bear with me.

I am having a small problem with this template: on 800x600 screens the bottom portion of the site just below the six drop-down menu buttons is slightly offset to the right from the six drop-down menu buttons. Also, if you increase the text size SEVERAL times, you will see this problem as well.

Also, I don't know if the proceeding issue causes this or not, but on 800x600 screens the website doesn't fit on the screen horizontally. This means users have to scroll left and right to see everything. It is SOOOOOOOO close, I can't even stand it! Is there a way to fix this?

I have tested many other sites using this template, and they all seem to have these issues.

Thanks!

I'm not seeing this on my test site... what version of the template, what browser, and does it occur at http://www.zencart137.jadetrue.com?

Well, I designed it so that in 800 x 600, there would be a bit of scroll. There's not a lot of scroll, and I didn't want it to be too narrow. You'll see that the majority of people are above 800 x 600 resolution:

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp

But, you can certainly make the width whatever you want it to be, though personally I don't go much narrower on any sites I design anymore.

In stylesheet.css, you'll see many instances of 70em and of 71em. If you want to change all instances of 70em to 65em, change all instances of 71em to 66em.

There is also two instances of 70em in stylesheet_header_menu.css.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Thanks! That will be a big help. I will consider whether or not I want to change the size to fit 800x600 screens better.

I see it on your site with Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.0.0.8. The green stripes push the content to right a little bit; this causes the content not to line up with the drop-down menu buttons above. You have to use 800x600 resolution to see it, or just increasing the text size through your browser until it happens.

Thanks so much! :)

Here are some screenshots with the text sized increased a lot. You will see it on the left and the right----It's not lined up with the buttons at the top.

Well, the latest version is 2.2, and I would suggest asking them to use the newest version. BUT, I don't believe 1.8 had an issue like that. It seems that there is a formatting problem of the menu; this leads me to think there is something wrong with one of these files:

includes/classes/categories_ul_generator.php
includes/templates/apple_zen/common/tpl_drop_menu.php

So, hopefully reloading a fresh template, of the newest version, will correct any issues. Let me know!

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Brilliant! Re-uploaded those files (noticed a file size difference, but could be due to uploading v2.2 files), and the issue is resolved!

I'll upload all the v2.2 files just to make sure there's no conflict in other files etc.

Cheers Jade!

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Sorry Jade - I reuploaded the files, but the search boxes aren't using the 'search' image from the Apple Zen template.

I've uploaded v2.2, and the search image is there, but it's not using it. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Open up includes/templates/apple_zen/sideboxes/tpl_search_header.php, and change line 19 to be the same as line 17.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Hi,

im running a self modified apple zen template on zencart 1.3.0.1 (im afaird to update atm, as im a novice and have kinda hacked at the site here and there ever since 1.3,, :) )

im having a issue with my site (http://www.izwoz.com.au) where you cant click the sideboxes in firefox.

Ive tried searching for a solution for hours, but cant find the answer, i am guessing maybe css issue? works fine in ie7, but in firefox you cant click and also text is overlaid on the top of the sideboxes (example here http://www.izwoz.com.au/shop/index.p...products_id=15 )

anyone running applezen seen this issue? or did i create it myself due to editing? any help is much appreciated!! (as its driving me crazy).

thanks,

Nick

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

I tried searching the thread but with no joy, i'm sure this has been asked before.

Anyway i'm currently developing a store using Applezen and i'm experiencing an issue with the shadow borders around the main body not showing in IE6 although they are fine in FF and Opera.

Any ideas of a fix for this?

I note that they don't seem to work on your demo site either...

No, they are not supposed to work in IE6, because IE6 doesn't support PNG transparency.

Yes, you created it yourself. :cool:

You changed this:

.centerColumn {
	width:75%;
	float:left;
	margin:0 2% 2% 3%;
	text-align:left;
	line-height:1.6em;
	display:inline; /* fixes IE Bug in IE6 and earlier - do not remove */
	}

to this:

.centerColumn {
	width: auto;
	float: none;
	position: relative;
	margin-right: 0;
	padding: 1% 2% 0 2%;
	text-align: left;
	line-height: 1.6em;
	height: 100%;
}

But now that I've refreshed your site, it looks like you figured that out on your own! :hug:

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Hi Jade,
First, thanks for offering such a great zencart template.

I have one question for now, may have more later. How do I change the background color for the right sidebar? It's #eeeeee, but I don't see it anywhere in the CSS. I would like to change it to #7bc1d5

Here is the link for my shop: http://pixelprints.net/shop/

Thanks in advance for the help!

Its in an image, not in the stylesheet.

includes/templates/apple_zen/images/content_bg.gif

Open the image in your favorite editing software, change the color, and re-upload. :smile:

Ahh, that would be why I couldn't find it. I don't know why I didn't even think of that. Thank you!
