Apple Zen Support Thread

gsdcypher:

i will work on cleaning up the commenting, right now it is a mess because i am testing things on this page.

but how do i get the second row of drop down menus to show? it shows the top row, but there is another row underneath that is hidden by the page...

i don't want to turn off the ezpage links. i want that on top, then the drop down menu underneath (like it is) but there is another row to the drop down menu that is not showing and the flyout menu on the right side is hidden because it goes off the side of the page.

home | log in | my account | view cart | checkout now
on sale | agility equipment | auto accessories | balls & tugs | clothing | decals | dog equipment
*grooming supplies | kennel supplies | protection equipment | safety & cooling | etc.

*this second drop down row is hidden by the page.

thanks.
I can't help you until you fix the commenting issue. In firefox, the browser that I use, the menu does not even show. The commenting is so crazy that there's no way to even help until its fixed. The ezpage links do not show in firefox either, because of the commenting issue.

Because you have so many categories, the Paul's version will not work for you. As far as I know, there's no good way to have a double tall css drop down menu, it would not work correctly.

Those two things are exactly the same, aren't they?

Did you upload the css for the button hover function in the the apple_zen/css folder?

I reinstalled zencart, apple template, created new database - and it works.
BUT when I installed my old database from backup - buttons dont show up and hoovers dont work.

by the way, the hoovers i'm talking about are default buttons and button hoovers provided in Apple template. such as "write review" or "tell a friend' or "checkout".

Any input on this?

I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about. you're saying "hoover", so I assumed that was a typo and you meant "hover". What do you mean by "hoover"? In the css buttons, there is a hover option where a special css popup shows up when you hover over the button, and that is controlled by a stylesheet that goes into the apple_zen/css/ folder. Could I see a link of what you are referring to? Do you have css buttons turned OFF or ON in the admin, under "configuration", "css buttons".

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Hi,

I'm trying to use Apple Zen in Showcase mode. However, the shopping cart still shows up. I've gone into Store Status and changed it to 1. When I switch back to Classic, the cart is gone. What do I need to change to do to make Apple Zen respond the same way.

Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

One additonal question: Can someone explain how to move the drop down list of all products, specials, etc from under the Home tab to the Catagories tab? I tried using "Paul's Edition" of the CSS flyaway as was suggest for a similiar question earlier in this thread but it didn't work.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Found the answer to my second question about to moving the sub-menus. I moved the submenu listing in the tpl_drop_menu.php from
HEADER_TITLE_CATALOG to the HEADER_TITLE_CATEGORIES; I would post the code fragments, but I can't figure out how to add the scrolling inserts into the comments of the forum.

Still tring to figure out how to remove the shopping cart (and my account) in Showcase mode.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Hi.
I encountered a great problem.
Yahoo rejected my page from indexing it due to UNINDEXABLE CONTENT.
What could be the reason?
could it be.....
W3C CSS Validator results for http://citystylefurniture.com/ (CSS level 2.1)
Sorry! We found the following errors (5)
URI : http://example.com/includes/templates/apple_zen/css/stylesheet.css
281 * html #centerColumnWrapper2b, * Parse Error *html #centerColumnOuter{ border:1px solid #999999; border-top:none; }
285 * html #centerColumnWrapper2b, * Parse error - Unrecognized *html #centerColumnOuter { border-bottom:none; }

URI : http://example.com/includes/templates/apple_zen/css/stylesheet_header_menu.css
2 body Property behavior doesn't exist : url(includes/csshover.htc)
41 div#dropMenu li Parse Error *width:16.649%;

Nope, those are ignorable css errors that are required to make the template work correctly. That wouldn't be the yahoo error, I'm not sure what the issue is.

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Hi all. I'm using Apple Zen on a new site and I'm having a problem with my background image in the centerColumn on the product_info page. In Firefox, the image shows at the top of the div and in IE it shows at the bottom.

Here's a link
Here's what I have for CSS

.centerColumn {
	background: url('../../../../images/wide_mt_faded.jpg') no-repeat bottom center;

	width:70em;
	height:100%;

	margin:0 auto;

	padding:0;
	padding-bottom: 100px;

	text-align:left;

	line-height:1.6em;

	}

If anybody has got an idea of how to fix this, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.

ACTUALLY, it looks like you have some </div> closing issue, trying to validate that page gives many errors, I think you have one extra </div> somewhere, find that, and the issue will probably go away.

It looks like IE7, now that you're using images for the menu, is not respecting the HEIGHT for the images, as if they were not there. Try adding this to your stylesheet_header_menu.css:

div#dropMenu ul.level1 li.submenu:hover ul.level2 {top:2.2em;}

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

I have this wonderful template installed and have installed several mods and all seems to be working fine with one exception; loading speed! Sometimes the menu or all of the sideboxes do not load at all. After several refreshes it will finally load. I use Firefox but also have tried in Explorer.
The flash images on the main page is very small and the fact is it was loading slow before I added the flash.
I don't know much about optimizating for speed nor have I found anything about optimizing Zen in the forum. I would like someone to take a look and give me some critque and suggestions.

I would definitely get rid of the flash, it is not very small, it is almost 420K, whoever told you it was small was smoking something good, LOL. You can analyze the speed of your site here:
http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/index.html

Your total site size is 563960 bytes, and says it would take 7 seconds to load on a T1 connection:

Connection Rate Download Time
14.4K 441.30 seconds
28.8K 222.75 seconds
33.6K 191.53 seconds
56K 116.60 seconds
ISDN 128K 38.62 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps 7.19 seconds

MOST of your site is that flash file. You should make your logo smaller as well. I would make it much physically smaller, and try to get it under 20K (its at about 70K right now).

Re: Apple Zen Support Thread

Hiya!

Love the template, and I am using it as a basis to my new store I am in the process of putting together.
I am a complete beginner with CSS, but I have spent the afternoon tinkering around with things, and switching out all the colors to yellow to document what changes what, and where :smile:

I have one piece left that I would like to remove from view, which is still (at this time, until I figure it out) colored yellow.

My site is http://www.shirt10tees.com/ and I would be very grateful if someone could point me to what I should delete / comment out to make this simply disappear.

Thanks in advance!
