Hi,
Well I was going to do the order thing (just write into the itemname, item number fields) because the data wasn't getting written to the database before going to paypal.
I saw the final page (where the pay on paypal button is) yet nothing was in the db. Before I fixed the postage, nothing was in the db after either.
Of course I could have been looking in the wrong tables, I checked the orders and paypal ones only.
I forget which paypal field it is, but all I was going to do was write in the item name field in a way similar to a forum post I saw here earlier.
So instead of:
Item name: Your store name
Item number: Store receipt
You'd get something:
Item name: Your store name
Item a - qty 1
Item b - qty 2
Item number: Store receipt
Or even individually write the item name and item number fields for each product. Then add shipping as a final product to the list.
I'm not so attached to this idea that if it turns out a bad one I'd defend it to my dying days :). But as nothing was going in the db at the time, I wanted to ensure the order details were always available.
So if someone accidentally reconfigured their paypal and an order went through, there would be nothing to tell us what the order was.
I haven't had the time to research this further so if it turns out to be stupid then so be it :)
