USPS Shipping Estimator for Non-Customers

When non-customers attempt to get a shipping estimate the shipping estimator only shows the "store pickup" option even though I get the USPS option for actual customers.

I then get an email:
Subject: DEBUG:USPS rate quote response
Body: <?xml version="1.0"?>
<Error><Number>-2147219099</Number><Source>Rate_Respond.:clsRateV2UnpackRate;SOLServerRates.Rate_Respond</Source><Description>Missing value for ZipDestination.</Description><HelpFile></HelpFile><HelpContext>1000440</HelpContext></Error>

Any ideas on how to get this to work properly?

Are you current and up to date on the USPS shipping module?

Don't forget to Remove and Install and Configure it after loading the current version ...

I updated this but it is still giving me a problem. I'm considering contacting USPS but I'm pretty sure they will claim this to be something that needs to be changed through Zen-Cart.

What version Zen Cart are you running?

Is this a clean install or an upgrade?

How did you install it? How did you upgrade it?

Do you have set your 5 digit Zip Code in the Shipping/Packaging?

If you create a new account do you get the same error?

If you switch to Classic Template does the error go away?

If you create a new account do you get the same error? The shipping estimator works in the account screen. The time it doesn't work is for guests. In the guests case the shipping estimator is on the screen but never updates.

If you switch to Classic Template does the error go away? No, the error does not go away.

I attached a screenshot of the shipping estimator for guests just in case I wasn't clear.

There is nothing to show without an address ...

Once the address is added then the rates will show ...

You could customize the Shipping Estimator to say ...
Enter your address for additional shipping rates

The only address fields available are those shown in the screenshot(no street) and even after putting in the fields available it does not work. Should there be more fields for the estimator in guest mode.

Your site does not appear to load ... just a dead white page ... :eek:

Should be good now. I noticed that problem about 15 hours ago and realized I had screwed up the load due to meta tags having a quote mark in it.

It behaves as though you are missing upgrades ...

What happens if you switch to the Classic Template ... does the shipping estimator work now?

Once I switch templates it still doesn't work. Are the upgrades you are thinking of the ones mentioned before or possibly others?

Just to be sure, I reinstalled the upgrades mentioned earlier and it is still throwing debug errors.

Your USPS shipping shows in the checkout_shipping ...

It does not, however, work on the shopping_cart ...

This leads me to believe something still is not fully upgraded ...

Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com is a great tool for comparing files and finding inconsistancies, missing files, files not upgraded, etc.

Something is not upgraded on your shipping estimator ...

Is it only the updates for the two USPS files that could potentially be causing this or is it also other updates?

Do you know what the most recent versions of the USPS files are?

Found it(or maybe just part of it.) The file was:

****includes/modules/shipping_estimator.php

But, one more question. This works, but the shipping value does not change if you change the state and zip. It is almost as if the values are set, possibly through cookies,etc.****

There are a lot of files involved here ...

Your Shopping Cart and Shipping Estimator files do not appear to be working ...

Somewhere within these files you have something out of date ...

I'd use Beyond compare from scootersoftware.com or something similar to compare your site to a clean Zen Cart v1.3.7.1 and see what might be off ...

Got the software and it is definitely usefull. Now I'm trying to figure out how best to update without overwriting the files I have changed on purpose.
