Free products (to new customers only)

Does anyone know if it's possible to offer free products to new customers only?

So far, the only solution I can think of is to create a discount coupon and limit it to certain products or categories. Then, when a new customer signs up, email them the discount code.

Is there another way?

The Discount Coupon is the easiest way to manage this by setting the restrictions to Categories Top Deny ... and then the specific Products to Allow with 100% off ...

NOTE: do not mix Free Shipping in there as Discount Coupons are for:

1 Amount
2 Percentage
3 Shipping

But not for a combination of these, at this time ...

NOTE: 1 other option is to code your site to display after the create account the coupon code ... or just let them get the email with the free gifts as a surprise ...

Also, check do you want new customers to get the free gifts or new customers after their first order?
