Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

rmaldonado:

Hi Kuroi
I try to install the Dynamic Sideboxes in your module blank_sidebox
I bet Kuroi won't like this unholy mix, and will send you to the other mod's support thread, if they have any.
I would.
However that would be his call.
What I can suggest is some posts earlier: try using an <iframe>, that's an HTML tag that editable sidebox should have no problem with.
In the frame you can put any script you like for slideshow.
Since it will be running on a separate page there should be no conflicts.
You will have to customize dimensions, etc. of your script.

Do you have a million dollars for me?
If you do, I agree to baby sit you through the whole process.
If not, the answer is simple: google.
Start learning about iframes, check free javascripts for slideshows, etc.

In your mdule only I can put one image, I don´t know how put more and show ramdom. This is the support thread for the Admin-Editable sidebox. The blank sidebox mod has it's own support thread. Please don't cross-post between them, as it will cause confusion.

Actually the instructions I gave were for Editable, no scripts go in that sidebox, just the iframe.
Nevertheless, please point me to the blank sidebox thread, I was unaware there was one.
BTW, why are you on your computer on New Year's Eve?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! My response wasn't aimed at you, but rather to the person to whom you were responding, since he was asking how to implement the dynamic sideboxes concept in the blank sidebox mod - i.e. meshing two mods, neither of which are the one for which this is the support thread.

A happy new year to you to!

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Thanks ckosloff,

I do not feel personally offended or upset by this situation.

Originally, my question is because I want to do more on my website sideboxes as those coming in the website, where ads appear for advertising banners and change automatically.

I thought that the module-editable sidebox was a good idea but does not have the option to make the dynamic banners. Find a sideboxes dynamics module, install it but does not work, find support at the forum on this form and not find, so I decided to ask the forum Admin-Editable Sidebox to see if they can help me.

What I iframes of searching the Internet and do it, I was not much programming in HTML and PHP.

Sorry if my English is not very good but because I speak Spanish but taductor of google makes me a little homework.

Thank you

Happy 2009.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Install the mod and the first box worked fine. The problem is
the next box does not work at all because it has the same content as the first box. I renamed all the files and still the same issue. Is there code that needs to be changed?

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Thanks for everything ckosloff,

I said I was investigating how the banner_box.php and banner_box2.php. I work with them and did some tests. I turned the banner_box3.php and magnificent! And now works correctly and I am working on banner_box, 2 and 3 perfectly.

Sorry to make this comment in this forum (do not be mad to discuss other issues) but I'm new to using forums as well.

I don't understand.
Why load two boxes with same content?
If you follow the instructions you will see that in all files you need to rename all instances of "Editable" to whatever you wish to call your new sidebox.
Just use your text editor's "Find and Replace" function.

Glad you made it.
Regarding iframes, the concept is that you put in your editable sidebox just the call to a script that runs on a different page, could even be off-site.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

I just finished reading every post in this thread, so forgive me if I missed the answer. I have the mod working well, but cannot remove the white space at the bottom of the sidebox. I saw the post regarding paragraph html coding and checked for that. No luck.

My issue is the Documents box at https://www.signaturetennis.com/store. The coding I currently have is

<a href="#" target="_blank">References</a><font size="4"><span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"></span></font><br />
<a href="#" target="_blank">DIY Hardcourt Surfacing (Painting) & Patching</a><font size="4" style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">

<a href="#" target="_blank">Tennis/Basketball Court Resurfacing<font size="4" style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">

<a href="#" target="_blank">All Articles</a><font size="4" style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">
</font><br />
<a href="#" target="_blank">Other Information</a><p /><p> <font size="4" style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">_</font><br />

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Never Mind. I was operating in "moron mode" and missed the <p /><p> at the end of the coding.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

I tried to the blank sidebox mod and finally got it to work. Just uploaded this one, made the changes and it doesn't show in the Tools section but does show up in the admin box layout. Turned it on for left and right but nothing showing. Made sure not to repeat the same mistakes from the blank sidebox mod. Anyone know how to get it to show for now?

You cannot turn it on for left AND right.
If you see it in Admin, it's there, check the sort order.
Make sure that there are no duplicates with other sideboxes.
After that you should be good to go.
You should see it in Admin --> Tools --> Define Pages Editor.

What I meant was tried both left and right sides. Doesn't show in the Defines Pages Editor either. It is placed 6 out of 6 on the right for sort order. It is turned on for the right side
