Intermitant problems when logging in to Admin

I am still getting intermitant problems when I go into my admin area. When I put in my un and pw I don't know whether I'll get in or get a blank page with an error message in the bottom left hand corner, which when opened says:

Line: 333
Char: 15
Error: Object required
Code: 0

I just have to wait to see if I can get in later as repeated trying just doesn't work.

If I try on a different computer I also have no success, so the problem is not the computer.

Is it some bug in one of the files, and if so how do I fix it. If I could never get in then one of the files must be wrong or corrupted, but it seems strange that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Has anyone else had the same problem? If so how was it fixed. I've looked all over the forum and although there are lots of admin problems posted, I can't find anyone posting this problem.

Have nearly finished building my store to go live next week, but just impossible when If I have just an hour, I can't get into admin. What will happen when I have orders to process and I can't get in?

Any help would be massively appreciated.

If you have not customized files in the /admin then reload all of the files as it sounds like you may have bad, missing or otherwise corrupt files ...

Then, close all browser sessions and clear your cache and cookies ...

Open a clean browser session in IE ... does it work?

How do I reload the files in /admin.

I only have the ones on my server which must be the ones which are corrupted.

Sorry to be so obtuse.

Do you have a clean set of /admin file I could overwrite the existing ones with?

Assuming you are using the current Zen Cart v1.3.7.1 you can read up on that version and download it to your computer then FTP the files to your site:

I am using current Zen Cart v1.3.7.1.

Will the admin files I FTP make any changes to my site (other than correct the problem). What I mean is I have changed the template, and added a lot to the site i.e. a new about us down load etc.

If I just replace the whole admin file with a new one is this going to cause addition problems.

sorry to not get back sooner but had to work a shift for a few hours.

If you only FTP the files for:
/admin

and all subdirectories ... this is not touching anything for your Catalog ...

NOTE: you should already have a full copy of your whole site on your computer for when you want to do customizations that matches identically to your site ...

I followed the link in the last but one post you sent and downloaded the patch for admin security and FTP files to site. When I logged into admin it worked fine, but as the problem is intermittant there may still be a corrupted file. I'll find out soon enough as the problem occurs every day at some point.

When you say I should have a copy of my whole site on my computer how do I copy it onto my hard drive.

One method is using your FTP to download your site ...

However, on some servers and some FTP programs this gives you files with weird spacing such as double spaced lines ...

The other method is to unzip your Zen Cart v1.3.7.1 into a directory, and copy via your windows program all files you have changed or updated to this same directory ...

Then, I use Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com and do an FTP compare of this directory with my site and ensure all files are the same ...

Hi,

I replaced the /admin file with a clean set. Everything fine yesterday and no problem logging in.

Have just gone to log in to admin this morning and am locked out again. Just the same error description as my above post, despite all admin files being new.

Have deleted cookies, cleaned the cache, etc.

Please, what can be causing this?

If anyone out there has any idea, please let me know. I don't want to start a new thread for the same issue as I believe that is frowned upon?

Since my last post I have got into admin again and it seemed the problem was solved but today have been locked out all day.

Any ideas appreciated.

What browser are you using?

Are you starting from a Clean browser or the one you had open last night?

If you close all sessions on your browser and clear the cache and cookies ... then go to phpMyAdmin and locate your database and empty the tables:
db_cache
sessions
whos_online

Does this work?

If using IE ... if you try FireFox, does this work now?

If using Firefox, if you try IE, does this work now?
