Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

It's completely blank under the "List All Cross-Sells" section. They appear in the public side (catalog side), but not in the admin side. If I head back to the original Cross-Sell admin panel, scroll the list they appear there. They also appear in the db.

Server information:
Development server on localhost:
Database: MySQL 5.0.41-community-nt
HTTP Server: Apache/2.0.59 (Win32) PHP/5.2.2
PHP Version: 5.2.2 (Zend: 2.2.0)

I have attached ss's of the two different pages.

If it wasn't for being on the localhost, I'd send you a link so you could see yourself.

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

The only stupid question is "Are we there yet?" before you even pull out of the driveway :)

Clicked it several times with no results.

I downloaded another copy of admin/xsell_advanced.php to run a compare between the two and now it's working fine. Did a compare between the one that wasn't working and the one that is and it appears to me that one should remember to set the keyboard lock when one gets up to go somewhere while a keyboard batting cat is around. There were a few "extra" characters hither and yon that look suspiciously like cat-type in the file that wasn't working. Oh well, at least Amy saved her work like a good programmer LOLOL.

Thanks bunches and I really do appreciate the mod. It will work wonders on a site I'm setting up.

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Yellow1912, could I please add a request for a future version? I am sure that this would be most helpful and beneficial for every user.

Add a quantity box and a check box for each cross sell item on the product info display page. The customer can then add the quantity that they want and by selecting the check box that item would get added to the main product when added to cart. One of my vendors has this on their site, written in asp, and it is a great feature. This way, a customer can add everything they need in one page with a single add to cart action.

Thanks for all of your awesome work, I use several of your mods!

Matt

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Is it possible to list a category in a cross sell instead of a product?

We offer a wide variety of choices. For instance, if a customer is on a blank drum shell, they will want to choose drum hoops, lugs, etc. We offer a lot of different types of hoops and lugs, so instead of listing a single product type it would be nice to offer the category instead.

Also, on another note, any idea on how to put a quantity box along with the cross sell? Ideally, I would like to be able to allow a customer to be able to enter quantities into the boxes, and click a check box to allow the selected items to be added to the cart at the same time as the main product. I have a couple of vendors with .asp sites that have this feature and it's really handy.

Thanks!

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

I'm testing out the mod. and got the following error when I click on "delete":

1054 Unknown column 'products_model' in 'where clause'
in:
[delete from zen_products_xsell where products_model= 'blouse_mm']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

This happens only when I set the "Input type to be used in form" field to "model". Setting it to "id" and it works fine. I have downloaded and compared the xsell_advanced.php in admin/includes/functions/extra_functions. Nothing was amiss there. Any advise wld be greatly appreciated.

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Hi yellow1912, thank you for your prompt reply. I made the suggested amendment but instead of the previous error, when I click on "delete", I now get:

0 cross-sell(s) cleaned up
``` and the cross-sell products are still displayed in the cross-sell centerbox. I'll appreciate it greatly for any further suggestions.
Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)
Hi All,
I just installed the just another cross sell mod for version 1.3.8 and everything looks fine, but when I click on online catalog to see what it looks like, I get a blank screen? HELP!! How can everything seem to be working with the cross sell and then I have this issue. Does anyone know what I did wrong to have this issue or what I need to check to find out what when wrong and where? I get no error message, just a blank screen.
Is there a sql patch that I did not run? I used the Cross Sell - Just another Cross Sell Mod, last updated Mar 3, 2008 author yellow 1912
I am back tracking to see what I did wrong but I am stumped. I did realize that I did not run the sql patch for the first install last because I was getting errors, then I ran it and everything looked fine except for my store is not showing up just a blank screen. How do you reverse sql patches and start over?
Thanks BettyC
I reinstalled and did the debugging and it gives me this error.
Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)
If you have read the description, this is an improved version of the old xsell + xsell advanced.
Berserker:
Hello,
Can I install Cross Sell Advanced with this? Or does it have the same function?
Thx
Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)
If you have read my post, I said I used the most current dated 2008. The link you reference is dated March 26, 2007. Read what, who has time to read through 20 pages when you are trying to rectify a situation. I am a newbie and not a programmer that is why we go to people who know.
Posts seem to be all over the place and its hard to try to figure out alot of things unless you actually come across something you are looking for.
In my way of doing things I usually go to the most current download because you assume it is the most current and that is what you should use and it should work.
How would anyone know to use the prior year download. Should it be listed as a download if it doesn't work. It seems there is lack of configuration control to be able to help anyone who is not proficient in these areas of programming and learn as you go, and it makes it difficult to anyone who is just trying to get things to work the first time.
If I reverse and take out all the changes, what about the SQL patches, how does it affect things?
Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)
Now, you reported the error, and when I look at it, it was obviously to me that you are using the wrong link IN ADMIN, you should use advanced cross sell link instead of the normal one.
I dont know what you are talking about 2007 link and 2008 link whatsoever, I simply dont understand and have to time to try to understand. If you dont like it, remove it. Simple.
If this was a paid module, it's a totally different matter. But it is not. And as the readme stated, I guaranteed NOTHING.
