Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

So has anybody really figured out this blank admin page yclass problem? Does reinstalling with the older mod from post 608 work?

I don't understand how I get that fatal error when I have not changed any php files (or any files for that matter).

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

pawlik:

I know a lot of people are struggling with this. This is what I did to get it working.

Installed Zen Cart v1.3.8.a
Installed Module Manager rev 15
Installed Cross Sell - Just Another Cross Sell Mod rev 186

When I was finished and clicked to install new modules (tools > module manager) nothing happened so I used the SQL Query Executor (tools > install sql patches) to run the required sql myself (0.sql,1.sql,2.sql located in admin\includes\module_installation\ri_jaxs\db). When I was finished everything worked perfectly.

I was having issues with the Cross Sell mod until I followed what pawlik did above... Now it works very well!
Just my $0.02 worth...

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Hi All

I just installed this as pawlik did.. when I go into admin/tools/module manager... I click on list all modules I get this --

1 ri_jaxs 1 Revision 185 update
2 modules -1 Revision 185 update

when I click update on 1 ri_jaxs nothing happens... when I click update on 2 modules I get this answer--

Error Version number found in current_version.txt is not a positive integer

When I click on install new modules I get this error--

/home//public_html/*/includes/module_installation/module_manager/current_version.txt is missing
Error Module version could not be found in file and database

Any help appreciated many thx

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Hi All

After posting the above, even though I get those errors in the admin section, I've set up some cross sells and it seems to be working fine fingers and toes crossed will keep testing though..site is not live yet so time will tell..

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Hello, I use cross sell to sell my other products, I have it customized. I used it for my attributes. I am trying to adventure off expanding this a little more. Is it possible to code this follow:
To be able to take the first sort order number (the least number) and have that price displayed on the main products page. And if there is no cross sell with that main item just to show the regular price and not hide it. Confussing I know.
Try to explain it better, how it currently works
Item 1 Red Tshirt $2.99 (set as the main item)
it is cross sold with:
Red TShirt Small (sort order 1) $2.99
Red TShirt Medium (sort order 2) $3.99
So what I want it to do is say Red TShirt Small is no longer available when I update my database...
I would like it to take the price in the of the next sort order
so the main item: Red Tshirt set it to $3.99
Because sort order 1 is no longer available it ill take the price of sort order 2 which is $3.99.. so if a cross sell is set to an item it hide the main products actual price and takes it cross the least sort order. I tried to explain as good as I can if someone could simply what I am trying to say please feel free to.

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

I have been having problems with my site being really slow and my host thinks that my database is too large. The very large part of my db is the xsell table. I am using the Advanced Cross Sell addon as well. Is there any way to mitigate this? I really want this addon but don't want a slow site either. Thanks!

Sorry for the OT question, but how big is your database? I've always wondered at what point it would start to affect performance but I've not see it on our sites yet.

My xsell table has 118,516 entries at 4.2MiB. That's That's 75% of my entries and 26% of my size. My banner history is huge so I think I'm going to empty that. I'm really trying to get lean and mean! Any advice is welcome :)

This is a big db. What cache method do you use? Definitely try reducing any tables you can see if that improved performance.

How do I check my cache method? In my config.php file? My store was just redone so I'm not sure how my webmaster set it.

I have been emptying a lot of really old stuff. I wish there was a tool to get rid of old orders, customers, banner history, etc prior to a certain date. You know of anything?

I have define('SQL_CACHE_METHOD', 'none');
but my admin of 5 years was imported so there may be a lot in there that could be cleared out. I always set my cache to go to file when I did my own design...What difference does it make? So much still to learn :)

It at the end of includes/configure.php called define('SQL_CACHE_METHOD', 'database');

I believe database, file and none are options. If I remember correctly (which is dangerous), file is recommended for small to medium sites and database for large ones. But the database method can cause large databases. I'm not sure why mine is database (set it up too long ago to remember) but it should probably be file.

I'd be a little concerned about an automated way to remove things from the db. I'd think doing it manually, backing up first, is best. That way you know 'exactly' what's being removed.

I have been manually doing that. Still seems rather large though. I think the xsell table just is what it is and we'll have to deal with it.

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Hey Sheryll,

Have you found a solution for this by chance? I'm getting the same issue. I can add products to cross-sell, but editing/deleting/searching all break on this error. Basically the admin aspect of this is breaking. I'm looked in to the error more and that function just doesn't exist.. pretty ridiculous, but I'm trying to figure out what exactly it was doing and seeing if I can replicate what it should be doing.

Sheryll:

Okay, so I got it installed and it was working great, however, when I try to edit current cross sells I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method RIXsell::db_result_to_string() in /home/diva/public_html/templates/admin/xsell_advanced.php on line 41

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

So, I figured this out. Looking around I found post #452, which shows actual code for the init_yclass.php file. I took the functions from the yclass and put them at the bottom of my /admin/includes/classes/xsell_advanced.php file, like so:

/***** START ADDING Y-CLASS METHODS NEVER INCLUDED IN INSTALLATION *****/
	function db_result_to_string($glue, $db_result){
        $temp_array = array();
        if($this->is_obj($db_result,'queryFactoryResult')){
            // We need to clone, because we don't want to touch the real object
            while(!$db_result->EOF){
                $temp_array[] = $db_result->fields['products_'.XSELL_FORM_INPUT_TYPE];
                $db_result->MoveNext();
            }
            $db_result->Move(0);
            $db_result->MoveNext();
        }

        return implode($glue,$temp_array);
    }

    // This function does not work for all languages! BEWARE
    function array_to_upper(&$entries){
        foreach($entries as $entry){
            $entry = strtoupper($entry);
        }
    }

    // http://us3.php.net/manual/en/function.is-object.php#66370
    function is_obj( &$object, $check=null, $strict=true ){
        if (is_object($object)) {
            if ($check == null) {
                return true;
              } else {
                $object_name = get_class($object);
                return ($strict === true)?( $object_name == $check ):( strtolower($object_name) == strtolower($check) );
              }
          } else {
            return false;
          }
    }
	/***** END ADDING Y-CLASS METHODS NEVER INCLUDED IN INSTALLATION *****/

Everything seems to work fine now in the admin area.
Hope this helps.

I do have the same question with 1.3.9B.
Have any one test this module fully through 1.3.9?

BTW: did you install module manager,and which version you have installed?

Hi xzistance, thanks for the fix! It semi works for me. I don't know why, but I have two different links for xsell under "catalog" in admin. One is "Cross-Sell Products" and the other is "Advanced Cross-Sell". When I try to edit in "Advanced Cross-Sell", it still breaks but editing in the other one works like a charm.

I honestly haven't played with it for months now since I last posted and finally thought about it again today. Do you have these two links as well in admin? For now I am content with using it under "Cross Sell Products" since it is technically working, but if someone figures out how to fix the admin for "Advanced Cross-Sell" I would like to try to fix that too.
