Variable shipping rates

Hi,

I need to setup a shipping scheme whereby customers in the US pay 5$, customer in canada pay 6.50$ and international customers pay 10$. This is for all books, and eBooks have no shipping (so I set them as virtual and free shipping). Shipping rates are only taxed for canadian customers, all others are non-taxable.

Can somebody point me to (up to date) resources on how to set this up?

Thanks!

Use the zone rates option. There are three zones available in the zone rates, use US for the first, CA for canada, and you can use 00 in the third box to specify all others.

You can set up a CA taxing zone, and I think if you choose that in the zone rates section, only CA people will get the charge.

Re: Variable shipping rates

Thanks jettrue.

Thing is, now the client told me that for all additional items, shipping charge is 1.95 per item regardless of the zone. The zone items works perfectly but I don't know how to set a fixed shipping rate of 1.95 per additional item.

Re: Variable shipping rates

Also, using your method, I set 4.95 for shipping zone CA, but when I buy two items, it charges me 4.95 regardless, even though I set calculation method to Item.

Also, using your method, I set 4.95 for shipping zone CA, but when I buy two items, it charges me 4.95 regardless, even though I set calculation method to Item.

In the zone shipping table, you'd have to do something like this:

1:4.95;2:9.90,3:14.85, etc.

Then it will know that up to 1 item is 4.95, two items is $9.90, etc.

If Canada is the only one that is going to get the same flat rate per item, you could use the "per item" shipping module for canada only, and then restrict it to the CA shipping zone.

Then for the $1.95 additional for other zones, you can just do that in the zone shipping table.
