Moved from Sub Dir to Root, all kinds of probs...

sheesh, i had a great working example in a sub directory (/shop). i've followed the directions in the appropriate post. it worked fine for a few minutes (site showed up, could work in admin too), then i click on cats/products in admin and get the following:

Warning: main(includes/application_top.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/DELETED/public_html/index.php on line 26

Warning: main(includes/application_top.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/DELETED/public_html/index.php on line 26

Warning: main(includes/application_top.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/DELETED/public_html/index.php on line 26

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/DELETED/public_html/index.php on line 26

i get similar errors at the root level now too. i've reuploaded (ftp'd) several times, and i give up. any help would be greatly appreciated.... thanks!!!! (i replaced file name above with DELETED, fyi)

5hmedia:

(includes/application_top.php) ... : failed to open stream: Permission denied

A permission-denied error suggests that the files, while they exist, have permission-levels set to prevent the apache process from accessing them.
This would be typically caused by someone using FTP and setting certain permissions to the folder or directory. On some Linux servers the administrator has enabled "se_linux" which is a security tool that periodically checks server file permissions (every 10 min or so) and if it finds any file/folder that has permissions higher than it expects them to be, knocks them down a few notches. I wonder if that's happening to you ? Your hosting company would have to tell you.

DrByte - your are exactly correct (of course!). I simply started over from scratch. My ftp skills are lacking. Thank you for the response.
