DIR_WS and PHP5 and TemplateMonster template

My host just upgraded to PHP 5, Zencart runs fine, except when I use my Template Monster templates. It seems that it doesn't read or understand the website directory DIR_WS, is there a way to get around this?
Any help would be appreciated....I am very new at this and very LOST!
