Scrolling Featured Sidebox support thread

Installed it into 1.3.7 and it only scrolls successfully in Firefox.

Both IE 6 & IE 7 show scrolling text and the images are displayed static. All the images are displayed further down the page, in a vertical column, all are static.

I have Image Handler 2 installed. That might be the cause.

The scrolling on the demo page displays fine in both my IE 6 & IE7. So it's something that is different about my site.

Will have a bit more of a look at it a bit later when I get some time.

A big thanks for doing it actually.

I have found the source of the scrolling problems in sideboxes with IE 6 & IE 7.

It's the fact that IH2 does a " style="position:relative" " on the images in those sideboxes. Remove this CSS style and the problem is fixed.

Have a look in includes/classes/bmz_image_handler.class.php, right at the end of the file.

You will see:
return $parameters . 'style="position:relative" onmouseover="showtrail(' . "'$products_image_zoom'...

Just remove the offending style so you end up with:
return $parameters . 'onmouseover="showtrail(' . "'$products_image_zoom'...

And scrolling in sideboxes will work again.

But this breaks image hover functionality offered with Image Handler for the entire site. We need some way of testing for whether you are actually in a sidebox or not. Or even specially if we are in Featured sidebox.

Misty, thank you for this scrolling box.

I just have one issue that I'm trying to work out. When the scroll reaches the end of the list, the first 5 products on the list reload and the 1st on the list only shows for a slit second (not long enough to click on).

I know that there is a solution out there, but I can't seem to figure it out. I've tried changing the behavior from scroll to slide and that didn't do the trick. Any ideas?

We now have a fix to the scrolling issues thanks to RedrikShuhart. It's very simple.

It still has a little position quirk in IE6, but good enough for me. IE7 & Firefox work perfectly.

I however have a question if anyone can help. We use salemaker more than we do the specials and have various different categories setup under salemaker that do not expire (60%,70%,80%, etc. off) and would like to find a way to make those salemakers specials scroll instead of featured products.

I would do it myself however I do not know SQL statements all that well, especially multiple joins.

I had this installed on my old Zencart version but when I updated my Zencart to the newest version it doesn't work. I made sure it was installed into the proper folder of the new Zencart. Is there something else I need to do ? My friend also installed it on her new Zencart version and it doesn't work with it either.

I am experiencing this very problem and can't seem to see where you get round this problem of the images appearing in a column below the side box for featured products.

Thanks Misty ! I have gone over and over this but can't figure out why mine isn't working now when it was before. I have installed a new updated Zencart here , copied my old DB over to the new one, installed the tpl_featured.php into my template sideboxes folder and positive I have it on the server. I have 2 items set as featured items . Everything is working great except for this. I do not use the Image Handler so am sure that's not it.
