main page image

Hi,
please don't laugh at me if this question is too stupid.
Actually I hope it is, so that it's easy to find a solution.
I couldn't, so I really need your help :p

The person who worked at this e-commerce website I have to edit added some intro text to the main page. I had to delete it because the same text was displayed in every page after the products images and descriptions. when I finally found out the text was in the html_includes/define_main_page.php file I just deleted all the text.
Unluckily I was asked to put an image in the main page only, not to leave it empty, but I don't know how to do it without adding it to all the other pages.

Any suggestions?

:shocking:

Re: main page image

If define_main_page text is showing up on all pages, something is wrong. That should only show on the home page.

Can you give a link to your site?

Re: main page image

http://www.testingdomains.co.uk/shop/

Unluckily this is not my site. I was asked to modify an already exsiting and badly built site.
They said it was a 1-day job with minor css changes, and it's since Thursday I'm working hard on it (never used zen cart before...)!!!!

As you see, I'm working on it. I haven't manage to display the categories headings yet, and I will use css to make a better looking menu (colors and fonts).

I added a string to the define_main_page file to display in the main page.
You can read it in every file.
Any idea???' :frusty:

thanks a million

Re: main page image

You are not getting the define_main_page text on every page - what you are seeing is the stock "define page" text for each of the respective pages. Edit each of them in the define pages editor and see.

The "Colours indicated for guidance only..." has been hard-coded into a file, possibly /includes/templates/your_template/common/tpl_main_page.php.

Re: main page image

Thanks a lot for spending time on that :)

The "Colours indicated for guidance only..." is somewhere in the footer, and it has to be in every page.

The text "This is a test text added to /includes/languages/english/html_includes/classic/define_main_page.php"
was written by me and saved as said in the text itself.
I cannot use the text editor, isn't it the same if I just add test to the file?
I guess I should also learn how to set the right user permissions...

Re: main page image

Yes, editing the file directly has the same result as editing it in the define pages editor - the editor just makes them all easy to get to from any computer where you can log into admin.
I wasn't quite sure if you thought the Colours text was the problem.

Re: main page image

Thanks for telling me. I prefer to edit the php files.

No, it is the line I quoted ("This is a test text added to /includes/languages/english/html_includes/classic/define_main_page.php") that is making me panic
Is there a way not to have it in the other pages?

Love,
Francesca

Re: main page image

OK I see that it does show on all the index pages (though not on other pages). It shouldn't do that; one of the files has had an include define_main_page or something like that added to it.

Sorry, it's me again. Do you have any suggestions? I am always checking the same files, maybe I missed some?
Can you tell what files I should check that make the main_page=index&cPath=* pages?

Re: main page image

Try /includes/templates/your_template/templates/tpl_index_categories.php.
