Please copy and paste all of the settings from your Admin> Configuration> Email Settings

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: I can't get my contact form to work

In addition to Kim's question, I'll add:

Are there any other emails that don't work?

Are you using the built-in contact form, or have you changed it in some way?

Re: I can't get my contact form to work

I feel like I have fallen down the rabbit hole this evening. My server said it was a problem with my installation and recommended that I have it re-installed. Whee contact form worked, HOWEVER they didn't tell me that I would loose my entire database. So I freaked and they said $30 please and we'll restore it. Guess what? Contact form is not working again as they restored the old installation not just the database. I can't win. I guess I will have to delete that feature from my site and accept my karma of bad communication.

One more try:

Here are my settings:

E-Mail Transport Method smtp

E-Mail Linefeeds LF

Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails false

Send E-Mails true

Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS false

Email Archiving Active? true

E-Mail Friendly-Errors false

Email Address (Displayed to Contact you) [email protected]

Email Address (sent FROM) [email protected]

Emails must send from known domain? No

Email Admin Format? TEXT

Send Copy of Order Confirmation Emails To [email protected]

Send Copy of Create Account Emails To - Status 1

Audience-Select Count Display true

SMTP Email Account Mailbox [email protected]

Password : secret

SMTP Email Mail Host siteground171.com

SMTP Email Mail Server Port 25

Convert currencies for Text emails £,£:€,€

I didn't change any coding but apparently there is something wrong even though I uploaded new files given to me by my server. I just don't understand what is going on except that Venus is still retrograde and the Moon sunk over Miami.

Re: I can't get my contact form to work

I just tested the send an email feature and it would send the email, gave the same message as the contact form.

I've shut down the site but will open it again so you can see.

Oh and I received a test order email just fine and my friend received her email just fine.

Re: I can't get my contact form to work

Your 'Set "Contact us" Email Dropdown List' entry should be constructed as shown in the Admin-Config setup i.e.

Name1email@address1, Name2email@address2 etc, and exactly and only that format.
e.g.
Sales[email protected], Info[email protected]

If you only want to use 1 contact us address address, it is not necessary to have anything entered there, as the system will use the 'Email Address (displayed to contact you) setting at the top of the page. For testing, I would leave the dropdown list blank.
I assume all these email addresses exist?

Re: I can't get my contact form to work

YEAH!!!! I FIXED IT!!!

Those dang pirates at my hosting company got $30 out of me for nothing ... grrrr. It wasn't a problem with the coding at all and they made me believe I needed to re-intall the cart knowing full well my database would be dumped.

I had a switch turned off.

Email Friendly Errors - turned was to False which caused the error messages. I switched it to TRUE and now it's working.

Hope my dilemma helps someone else sometime.

Re: I can't get my contact form to work

Are all emails having the same problem?

Are you sure you have the correct SMTP settings ?
Perhaps you should set your Email Transport to SMTPAUTH instead of just SMTP?
Or maybe switch it to PHP ?

Re: I can't get my contact form to work

I fixed the main email system as it now sends emails but the contact form is still broken in the sense that while it sends emails they are not received by me.

I've checked my cPanel to see if the forwarders were working and they are as the main email system sends them to my forwarded address.

What is frustrating is that while the contact form worked for the new install I lost the database (still upset at that one) and when the database was restored the problem came back.

What in the world could be wrong?:sadwalk:

Re: I can't get my contact form to work

By default, a new install has the following differences in email settings compared to what you posted earlier:

Email Transport method: PHP
Contact Us Pulldown List: (blank)
Email Friendly Errors: False

You could try those settings again.
Either that or the suggestions I made in my last post.

Latest update on the contact form dilemma

I switched Email Friendly Errors to TRUE which made my ADMIN email system work

I just switched Emails must send from known domain? from NO to YES and actually received this notification

A message that you sent contained no recipient addresses, and therefore no
delivery could be attempted.

I used my private email address as the sender.

I will try your suggestions and see if the dang thing will work.

Otherwise it's back to strictly sending us an email system. I can't spend any more time on this problem but a beaver always finishes her dam.

Dr. Byte

It worked finally.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Now if you would only figure out why in Cherry Zen I can't get the price on the listings to be below the image I'd be your friend forever.
