Members only products

Hi,
This is my plan I want members only products and prices displayed. I dont mind if non members can see but they cannot purchase or I can have it so only members can view. Not really bothered which way. Whatever way is poss!

So far I have set my Zen cart up so pple can purchase a membership and then I put them into a group giving them discount on checkout.

Is this possible to do and is it possible to set the above to these groups? If there is anotherway of doing it please let me know

Cheers!

Re: Members only products

admin > configuration > customer details ... Customer Shop Status - View Shop and Prices ... set to 1 or 2 whichever you really prefer.

Re: Members only products

Hi, thanks for that, but I only want the members who pay for membership subscription to be able to purchase.

I may be wrong but currently everyone who wants to purchase from zencart has to create an account? which then means they can log in and get the discount price. Is that right?

If so can I get around it for example all membership subscribers are put into a group pricing eg Standard membership giving them the % on checkout so when these standard members log in they are the only ones able to purchase from the members only section.

I hope I'm making sense!

Re: Members only products

Hi,

Sorry but I dont think that will work as

I only want customers who buy a subscription to be able to purchase these specials.

So a customer buys from my site they are forced to create an account to proceed they r normal accounts

A customer buys a subscription from my site for a year giving them access to specials only for subsrcribers they then become subsrcibed members and go into a group discount.

So when a subscribed member logs in they r only allowed to purchase these specials normal members can view them but not buy them.

The options in customer details dont seem to fit this need you have to be authorized to purchase every product. which i want only restricted to subscriber specials. Is this right? Or am I doing something wrong?

I am new at this so please be kind to me!! I dont like wasting ppl,s time so sorry!!!:(

Re: Members only products

We would love to have a members only section too!

We would like to have the members only to have access to particular extra categories depending on their membership type. i.e. membership A customers can see and buy all public categories plus category A products, membership B customers can see and buy all public and category b but cannot see or buy from category A. The public can only see and buy the public categories.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Re: Members only products

This could be done but would require quite a bit of custom coding ...

You might consider also allow the products to show to all and only customers with the subscription/membership can buy them ... or they get a link to obtain the subscription/membership ...

Hi Ajeh,

That is what I want to do. The first option is fine for me. Can you point me in the direction to do this? I can sort te coding but just need to know where to start.

Cheers!

Re: Members only products

Hi there Louie,

I want to do the same thing (restrict certain products to certain members) but the coding part is more of a problem for me. Have you had any luck writing a solution? Do you want to share ?

Really would be grateful for any help.

Thanks,

Re: Members only products

Okay so i think I know where to at least start. We just want a certain category to be bought by customers in a certain group. I think that the code should go in the functions_gerneral.php file near the code for call for price etc area. If I should put it some where else that might make it easier for upgrading please let me know.

I just having a bit of trouble as I am not really that good at writing code ( I can understand the basics of what it means but writing is a different story).

So if anyone could help me out I need a code statement for the function on the product info page that either shows a link instead of the add to cart button that takes the customer to a ezpage form to join the group or if the customer is already in the group (and obviously logged in so the system knows their group_id) the add to cart button shows and they can buy the item.

I have been trying to tweek some of the code that is used for cal for price but don't think I know enough, and I need help.

Re: Members only products

Hi Supersnow,

I'm trying to do this too and wondered how you were getting on? I haev built a normal store for a client, but they want a category of the site that only members can view and purchase from. These members would be issued a password. I don't want anyone else to be able to see this product category. Is this the same issue that you have?
