Forcing download in new window/content type application/octet-stream

I'm having some problems with IE not downloading virtual products correctly. It hangs sometimes and doesn't ask the user where to download the file.

To correct this I want all download links to launch a new window and have the download content type set to application/octet-stream.

How do I force Zen Cart to do this?

Try just forcing to application/octet by setting these under Admin->Configuration->Attribute Settings:

Download by Redirect = false
Download by streaming = true
