Category box and logout issue

I love ZC and have built two other carts but am having trouble with this one. My client is currently at https://www.gmfirewood.com. My draft cart page is www.gmfirewood/cart. I will redesign the gmfirewwod.com/index.htm page to be a landing page and then provide a link to the cart.

I have set Configuration>Layout Settings>Main Page -always show on main page to true. That seems to remove the Categories box on the left column. How can I turn on this box?

There should also be a way to logout and return to the index.htm page from the main page but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks

Re: Category box and logout issue

Your best bet is to use define_main_page.php and some other tweaks to make your Zen Cart home page the landing page. Then there are no issues about leaving the cart. See my site for an example.

You can always do a redirect from gmfirewood.com to the /cart when you are ready to go live.

"Configuration>Layout Settings>Main Page -always show on main page"... This doesn't make sense to me. What did you set?

Seems reasonable - I'll take a look.

Whoops, I merged two things - I meant that I set both "Main page - ..." and "Categories - always show ..." to true on the Layout Settings.

I have only one category and what I'm looking for is a way to make it the page that opens first and to display the Categories box in the event that we have other categories in the future.

Thanks

Re: Category box and logout issue

The categories sidebox display should have no connection with the Layout Settings page - that is controlled in Tools > Layout Boxes Controller.

And yes, you would want "Categories show on main page" = true and "Main page opens with category" set to 0 for all categories, or your category id for that one.
