one product, multiple colors / stock qty

I am trying to see how is this done

I have 1 product .. on that product I have

2 red
2 blue
1 gree

do I have to setup that product 3 times, or is there a different way to do it so the user selects which color he wants it, and show the stock available on that colou ?

Check downloads section on ZenCart website for contributions under "Other Modules". I believe there are two contributed modules that address this problem in slightly different ways.

One is at

Before you start, you may want to search the Community Contributions section of this forum for topics containing the contribution names. It seems to me there are a lot of outstanding issues from using these contributions so proceed with caution.
