How to change ezpages sidebox header??

hey guys

I've got a small question: how do i change the sidebox of the ez-pages header to something else. Right now it says "Imprtant Links"

Figure it out yourself by using this tool. It will help you out with a lot of other questions that may come along:

In admin, go to tools > Developer's Toolkit and search on "Important Links" (without the quotation marks). I would start in the last section of the tookit under "Lookup in all files".

This will display everyplace the term "Important Links" is coded in. You'll probably come up with only one match and it will contain a define statement. Just change "Important Links" to whatever you want it to say.

If you get more than one match during the search, look for a file under the languages subdirectory with a filename that seems to match the box or page you are trying to revise.

You can use this tool to lookup which file contains certain text. It's great for tracking down problems where something is quoted in an error message and for finding where you previously entered custom language.

BTW, if you find your match in one of the core files, you probably should consider using the override method to put your custom title into your own custom template file. If you are not familiar with the override system, now is the time to learn and use it. Plenty of info in the FAQ and Wiki on override templates.

I already had a lot of chages but i couldn't find this one... nice tool, i never used it until now... I can see how so much easier my life could be.... hahaha :P
anyway, as is said, i already change a lot of files, i'm not sure if they are core files or not... can i use this overide system now? will my changes will be the same if I'll update the zencart...?

Hi,
I'm looking for the same bit to edit, so I did what was said above.
I came up with this result: /var/www/html/zen-cart-update/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/ez_pages_definitions.php
I altered it to read as I wanted it to, then clicked save.
Went to my site & ..... nothing:censored:

Site completely disappeared!
I had actually found this file myself earlier, without using the toolkit, & altered it, with the same results.
Seems like something else is calling for it using the original title of Important Links, in which case, there must be something else to edit in another file somewhere, but it doesn't come up in the search I did in the toolkit.
Anyone got any ideas, please??:huh:

Exactly what does that define statement look like now? It is important to keep the single quotes around the defined text.

And Yairoz, it's never too late to start using the template override system. Even if you have edited core files, if you copy the edited files to your template folders they will function correctly, and in your next upgrade when the core files are overwritten, your changes will be safe.

Hi,
I really thought everything was sorted, but somehow it has disappeared again!
Just the EZPages this time though.
I altered the file as recommended & all worked great, but I wanted to redo what had been done so I deleted one of the pages I had already made.
Actually, perhaps the name of the page had something to do with what has happened, because it was called the same as the title of the box quoted above.
I originally made the page because I needed a title & couldn't find how to change that heading, so I made a page to take it's place , not very satisfactory, which is why I deleted it, but now I have lost all the EZPages & I really don't understand why!
I deleted the page, & that was all I did, but the lot dispapeared.
Any ideas?
I have tried turning everything off, then on again, checked all my settings etc but I didn't alter any to start with.
Am I going to have to reload?
Would be grateful for any help.

The only thing I can think of is if the apostrophe caused the "delete" function to end prematurely, leaving an invalid piece of name in the database. I have no idea whether that could happen. If it did,someone who knows the db better can tell you how to search it for possible bad strings, and where to look. (There will be one or more tables in the db for ez-pages.)

Have you looked for a fragment of the name in Tools > EZ-Pages?

I don't know how to look for a fragment:unsure:

What I have noticed though, is that the EZ page id still refers to the previous page(s) (now plural) because I only have 4, 3 newly created, & they are numbered 5 - 9!
Could this be what you mean?
How would I get rid of any "fragment"?

EZ-Page ids will be numbered in order of creation, and deleted ones will not be filled in with new pages or cause the ids of other pages to be reset. If you don't see anything odd in the ez-page names in the list, the problem is not there. I can't help you with searching the database. You might try a forum search for "search database" or something; then you will know as much as I could tell you.

At my site http://www.easybeading.com.au I have set up the ez pages sidebox with links.

The problem I have is that the heading of the box says BOX_HEADING_EZPAGES rather than Important Links.

I have done as this thready suggested to try to fix it but nothing has done the trick.

Is there anything else which could be causing the problem?

Post #2 describes the method in detail. If you follow that, you will find the define statement's file location; then you can open that file in a text editor and change the define.

I worked it out. My ezy_pages_definitions.php (includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/CUSTOM/ezy_pages_definitions.php) was missing some define statements so I replaced it with the original file and it's now working.
