PREAUTH and AUTHENTICATE, PROTX

Recieved this and i dont understand what its saying and if/what i need to fix and do.

PREAUTH extended until 1st November 2007

Protx have extended the deadline for our live merchants to move from the phased-out PREAUTH payment method to the new AUTHENTICATE and AUTHORISE scheme by two months, to 1st November 2007. This is to allow our customers to parallel test their systems and feel comfortable with the new payment types before the old method becomes unavailable.
Please migrate your systems before the 1st November. On that date, PREAUTH will be switched off and transaction registrations with a PREAUTH transaction type will fail.

Re: PREAUTH and AUTHENTICATE, PROTX

Hi,

kitcorsa:

you are not accepting private message anymore :(

No, I find them an extremely inconvenient method of communication.

It's easy to get in contact with me via our website though:

http://dev.ceon.net/contact_us

(after which I can keep in contact via e-mail.. much handier than having to log in to post private messages! :smartalec: ).

kitcorsa:

Conor please could you advise.

Do you use the PREAUTH Transaction Mode?

If so, it will no longer work at the end of October. It has been superseded by the AUTHENTICATE Transaction Mode.

The latest versions of both Protx modules support the new Transaction Mode. The free version 2.x of Protx Direct does not support it.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Merlinpa1969:

Yes, there's a few changes lined up for the free version. This is the first report we've had from someone using PREAUTH with the free version but time's pretty tight here at the minute so I can't say when exactly. Before the deadline arrives, certainly, we don't want anyone's shop to stop working, but when exactly I can't commit to at this time.

I'm very sorry to hear that!

I took a look at your site and it's very nicely laid out. It could be a case that it is hard to find though... have you tried advertising on google? I know it's expensive but it may be a way to get your store off the ground?

Also, I'd put up a more detailed Shipping & Returns page. The current page doesn't really give enough information and as a customer I'd be a bit unsure about any order as a result. I'd suggest putting up the likely ranges of shipping costs at least... I know that lots of people won't go to the bother of buying anything unless they know the shipping charges before hand. To see them "calculated at the checkout" simply isn't sufficient, a lot of people will just go to another site rather than go to the bother of creating an account to checkout etc.

kitcorsa:

please can you inform me when the new version comes so i cn upgrade it

Please send me an e-mail via our website so I can e-mail you when it's done.

Hope the information above is of some use to you!

That's great - you need to let people know that though! :)

Free postage would certainly encourage me to think about ordering, but not if I don't know about it!

Re: PREAUTH and AUTHENTICATE, PROTX

Hi,

kitcorsa:

Only if you stay at the top of the home page for a significant amount of time... which I didn't and would say many others won't either. Once you click through to a category you have no information about postage costs and I think this will be putting customers off buying off you. If you hadn't told me on this forum, I really wouldn't have had any idea what your postage costs were from "normal" usage of the site (everyone's usage is different so obviously I can only call my own usage style "normal". :) )

My two suggestions would be to make the free postage offer more visible by putting it on more pages and reducing the amount of time it takes for your animation to go from "sale" to "free postage" and to **always **keep the most up to date postage information on your shipping page... at the minute the information on it differs from your actual postage!

Hope that helps! :)

Re: PREAUTH and AUTHENTICATE, PROTX

Hi,

Just to let you know that the new version of the free version of the module, 2.4.0, with full support for Protx's updated systems is now available for download:

Thread for Free Version of Protx Direct (2.4.0)

Full upgrade instructions are included in the documentation within the download archives. (As always it's as simple as can be! :) ).

Enjoy!

All the best...

Conor
