General ZC overview

I've made a basic website for a client https://www.kipsikraft.com and he wants a shopping cart on it.
But I just can't work out whether I can use this existing site and incorporate ZC within it's structure once someone buys something!
Or do I need to sit www.kipsikraft within a ZC template for it to work?

There's so many places to look on here and the wiki which are tip top and extremely helpful.
However, I have one of those feelings that this is a stupid question because I can't find the answer anywhere.

Re: General ZC overview

Zen Cart is designed to handle the whole site from start to finish and not act as added "buy now" buttons.

Re: General ZC overview

That explains a lot.
So to incorporate the existing site design into ZC is still possible? Or will I have to go back to square 1 and redesign the site using ZC CSS styles?

Post a url to what you currently have for thoughts on what you need to do

Thanks Kobra.
Well my the existing site as it stands is https://www.kipsikraft.com and I've simply added the "Add to Cart" buttons. I then went online and found soooo many recommendations for Zen Cart that I installed it on the server in the hope that I would then just link the existing "Add to Cart" buttons to Zen Cart.
Please bear in mind my web design skills are fairly rudimentary.
Now, after absorbing myself in ZC for some days I realise it's a complete shopping package and not just an "in the background" cart calculator.
But I was hoping to still keep my existing layout (https://www.kipsikraft.com) which is client approved.
My question is can I do this even though the site was designed using tables? Will it work properly within the ZC framework?
Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: General ZC overview

I've found this thread (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36567) concerning the use of an already existing website and whether or not it can be incorperated into ZC.

Re: General ZC overview

Your current site should not be too difficult to port over into the div based Zen Cart layout with only minor differences in the productlisting areas

That's good to hear
I've started exploring the admin controls and deleted the existing ZC examples and added my own. Then I think I'll tackle the template layout customisation.
I suppose the best way to understand ZC is to try it and learn by mistakes.
Hopefully not too many
