NO IMAGES or html in emails

Not sure what I have done wrong. I do not use newsletters, just email for the welcome new customer, confirming orders and gv's. Have tried every email transport method of php, sendmail. My host is Hostmonster, which is unix.
Can not get images, logo or header.jpg (zen cart logo) to show up in the emails. Just Plain Text? Just starting on gift certificates and wanted my logo to show on the top. Not even getting a little x where the image should go?

Current settings in EMail Options:

E-Mail Transport Method sendmail
E-Mail Linefeeds LF
Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails true
Send E-Mails true
Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS false
Email Archiving Active? false
E-Mail Friendly-Errors true
Email Address (Displayed to Contact you) My shop email address
Email Address (sent FROM) My shop email address
Emails must send from known domain? Yes
Email Admin Format? HTML

Have been sending test gift certificates thru to myself via AOL, just getting plain text with confirm number, no download of gv or image appears for the gift certificate?

When checking mail on the admin side via hostmonster I see the download of the gv, but no image of the gv itself? Hope I am making sense here?

Any suggestions? :frusty: HELP ! I must have missed something somewhere?
Actual Site is underconstruction.

Re: NO IMAGES or html in emails

First, have you tested using a non-AOL account ? A normal email account would be best -- not free services like yahoo/hotmail etc.

Second, can you post the raw email content for review? (ie: the raw source/data ... not what your email client shows you normally, but all the raw stuff including headers, etc).

Third, for the customer you're emailing to, do they have a customer record in your store ? If so, what is their preferred email-format set to?

Re: NO IMAGES or html in emails

 Didn't I just suggest to not use yahoo accounts for testing ?

yes, view-source would be ideal

DrByte:

OK, now looks like the html is working but still not the images? Was hoping the zen cart logo would come up?
From the gv_mail.php
<img src="email/header.jpg" alt="logo"/> ?

Re: NO IMAGES or html in emails

This is normal:<img src="email/header.jpg" alt="logo" />However, it relies on this part (line 4 of your email template file) being handled properly:```

<base href="$BASE_HREF" /> ```Some email programs fail to obey base href tags ... and usually if they're using a web browser to read the email, they will replace the base href with something on the website that's being used to read the email. That's why I suggested a non-web-based email for testing.

You might have to change all your email templates to use an explicit image path, like this:```
<img src="http://my_site.com/email/header.jpg" alt="logo" />

Re: NO IMAGES or html in emails

hi, i have had the same problem as this.
i changed the paths in the email templates to explicit paths, and the logo shows up fine when i open the email templates in my browser.
However, when i send an email (specifically to a hotmail account) and open the message, my computer asks me to connect to the internet, even though i use broadband and are always connected, and pressing yes doesnt do anything, so when i press cancel it just shows the word logo with the little red x in the corner?
Please help with this, i would really like to have my logo on the emails. if its a hotmail issue, there must be ways round it, as i often recieve html emails from other companys with images in them.
Thanks in advance

Re: NO IMAGES or html in emails

omg, i am so silly!!! just realised what the problem was.

i had changed the img src in my email template for gv_mail, but had not yet changed it in the other email templates, and so i was sending direct mail and had not changed the direct mail email template!!!

i feel so silly now!!! Thanks anyway though, this thread was really useful, dont know what i would have done without it.

Dr Byte:

i have done as you explained, but I still have the box with the red x

i wanted to link my logo so my code was:

<a href="http://mywebsite.com"> <img src="http://mywebsite.com/email/header.jpg" alt="logo" />

is there something Im doing wrong?
