2 installs/1 database...

Is it possible to install 2 catalogs/stores on a domain, and have the following occur?:

  1. 1st store reads from basic database as it is installed
  2. 2nd store reads from 1st store database for all tables EXCEPT price field

In short the stores would have identical products but would allow 2 different pricing oprions for store owner.

If possible, what/where would I edit to just point price field of 2nd store to different table?

This would be for a USA store and Canada store...
dual pricing does not work for what we need for the client.

thanks!

I think that you will experience issues with sessions and other securtity items but also believe that others have tried this.

Re: 2 installs/1 database...

Hello and thanks.

With regard to session issues, customers won't be going back and forth.
they'll either enter "canada store" or "us store"

So...to try this, what files would need to be editied in the 2nd install to point the price field to a different table?

thanks in advance.

Rick,

I think that to do this in the way you are expressing - you would need to alter the DB to have tables/records for 2ndprice and all the relationships that exist for the std price.

Then in the files of one cart - every where that the price is referenced bith on the catalog side and the admin entry side you need to change these references and calls to the DB.

Not what I would expect to be a small job
