How to configure Case Quantity Discounts

I'm trying to configure a customer's ZC to do discounts with cases, but I have not been able to figure it out. I have searched through the forums for quite some time and can not find a suitable answer. I don't know if this means it isn't possible (built-in) or not. I have found one post http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29953&highlight=case+discount that seems to ask a similar question, but unfortunately no answer.

I'll reformulate the question to see if this gives a better idea of what I need.

1 - 5 @ $10/each

Cases come in packages of 6, with each case receiving a discount of $10, so purchasing 6 would be $50. And the customer can also purchase a master case which has 48, and a master case would be $360.

Here are some examples:

Customer buys 5: order total $50
Customer buys 6: order total $50 (1 case, discount $10)
Customer buys 7: order total $60 (1 case + 1 unit)
Customer buys 12: order total $100 (2 cases)
Customer buys 13: order total $110 (2 cases + 1 unit)
Customer buys 54: order total $410 (1 master case + 1 case)
Customer buys 55: order total $420 (1 master case + 1 case + 1 unit)

I hope the examples kind of explain what I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: How to configure Case Quantity Discounts

Note that to use the Quantity Discounts contribution to do this, some custom code must be written.

Could you possibly point me in the right direction as to where to put this code?

Re: How to configure Case Quantity Discounts

Hi,

has anyone managed to get Case Quantity Discounts working as I am trying to do the same thing

I tried the quantity discount module but I need different discounts for each product and from what I can see this just does general quantity discounts.

Also I need to make it so that only certain customers can get a case discount.

I have a feeling my shopping cart page is going to become full of if statements so any help would be greatfully recieved!

Thanks

Rachael

Re: How to configure Case Quantity Discounts

If every product has a different discounting regime, you may want to use the native Quantity Discounting facility in products price manager. This contribution fits best with shops that have a single discounting schedule for all products.

If you still want to use this contribution, you can implement discounts on a per product basis using the user exits; look for the string "user exit" in the help from the admin.

If you want to constrain discounts to a particular group, you have to add code. Yes, there will be lots of if statements.

Re: How to configure Case Quantity Discounts

Hi,

I have written some code which seems to be calculating the discounts correctly and is displaying them in the shopping basket, however I can't update the subtotal or the order value.

This means that when a user clicks checkout they see the original order total instead of the discounted one I am calculating.

Could someone tell me how I can assign my new discounted total so it is entered into the database/sessions correctly

hope that makes sense :D
