Re: Update all products to the same attribute?

Actually I found it. For those that might find this post in the future, do this.

In admin.

Go into your Catalog / Categories and Products and click into a category. Click the attribute icon on one of the products that has the correct attributes. Now just copy them where-ever you need.

Re: Update all products to the same attribute?

I want to do something similar, but not copy a whole stack... I just need to add one attribute to every item in the store (about 200 or so).

Is there a similar way to do just this?

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Update all products to the same attribute?

Hi

I used easy populate module to deal with this. If you want the same attributes adding to all pages.

Add the attribute to a couple of categories first then download the models/attributes file using easy populate.

Open the file in your favorite spreadsheet. compare the attributes files between the categories you have updated against those you have not updated and then just copy the differences. upload the new model/attributes file using easy populate.

I adding a new attribute with a text field to my shop. almost 20,000 products updated in under 10 minutes. Much quicker than using the admin and updating each category at a time (! have over 500 categories)

hope this helps someone.

Hi Kevin,

Which version of Easy Populate did you do this on? as im sure the latest version I have there is no attribute field to see. Im in a similar boat, over 100 Categories and trying to use Easy Populate.

Thanks Sam

Re: Update all products to the same attribute?

You can also achieve this with Apsona ShopAdmin. Simply create a CSV or Excel file containing at least the three columns Product name, Attribute name (i.e., option name) and Attribute value (i.e., option value). (You can prepare this file by exporting arbitrary filtered subsets of your products, too.) Import this into the product attributes table.

Hope this helps,
Apsona
