Ability to show all items in a top category or.....

Is there a way for people to be able to look at all the items in a top category?
(which would be easiest thing!)

Now if I cant do that, I do know I can link a product to another category,
could I have all the items in a few different categories listed in another one
ie- all the products in my jewelry category (and all it's sub categories) put into a category called all jewelry,
without having to link each product one at a time (as it's a pain in the rear and taking WAY too long!)

any help? :)

I couldn't see where to edit my post, but I figured it out,
for anyone else who might want to know how to do this-

go to a category with products in it, and click on the little blue C (on the right hand side)
then scroll down to "Multiple Categories Link Manager"
and from there if you scroll down again, this time to -
"Global Category Link Changes and Master Category ID Reset"
the first set

Copy ALL Products in a Category as LINKED Products to another Category ...
Example: Using 8 and 22 would Link ALL Products in Category 8 to Category 22
Select All Products in Category: Link to Category:
just put the category number of the products you want linked in the first box (it needs to be a category with products in it, it can't have subcategories in it)
and the category you want them in, in the second box.

I search for most of the questions I have, but I have seen alot of posts with no awnsers, so I try to make sure that if someone else is searching for the same awnser, I can help them out :D

OK this is what I want to do but I don't have the small 'c' on my catagory folders. The small 'c' only appears when you are in a product?
Am I missing something?

it's not on the category folders, only on products,
go to a category with products in it,
and click on the little blue C (on the right hand side) on a product

for some reason, you cant access it from a category, you need to go to a product,

you can also find it by going to Catalog, then Attributes Controller,
in the bottom of the top box, is the link to "Multiple Categories Link Manager"

Yes I tried that and I keep getting an error message..... I will persevere and keep trying as up until now I have been doing it 'blind' now you have kindly given instructions I can try with 'seeing'!!

That bit is the very important bit! As soon as I done that I got a lovely green message at the top of the screen saying SUcCESSFUL UPDATE OF PRODUCTS LINKED, aghhh it felt good!
Now if only I had read these posts before I added a 1000 or so products!!

Now all I need to do is work out how to get all my products to have the 'tax class' set as taxable goods. I omited doing it when I listed them all :blink:, but thats another post! Thanks again

I haven't tried working in tax classes yet, I'm trying to get mine looking and working how I want first, then I'll tackel the hard stuff! ;)
