Catagory and Products in a Catagory

OK from reading up on other threads it woud seem that

QUOTE FROM ANOTHER THREAD.......
Categories hold Products OR Categories ...

If a Category holds a Category, then the New Product button vanishes ...

If a Category holds a Product, then the New Category button vanishes ...

Mixing the two results in incorrect displays, searches, prices and the like ...

So if I have done this, I have messed up huh?
The reason I did it (and only on a small trial catagory) is I liked the 'look' it gave.
I would like to have all the items in the catagory show up when they first enter that cat. then if they wish to 'drill down' further they can us the side bar to do so.
At the moment I don't feel my site is 'browsable' you have to come into the store knowing what you want.

If you want to check out what I mean the catagory Storage Sleeves has 'the look' and the catorgary BossKut has what I don't want!

I never say "NEVER" - but not an easy 2-5 lines of code solution a this is core and in the relationships that are created for the Database
