Aweber Intergration

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has succesfully intergrated aweber with zencart. So that when people purchase the get added to the aweber list.

Thanks for any advice at all.

Cheers, ToNy!

Re: Aweber Intergration

This sounds like a recipe for complaints. Just because someone has bought from you once doesn't mean they want to receive an endless stream of marketing material from you.

An aWeber sidebox would probably be a better idea. You want them to opt-in intentionally.

Not really, I was thinking of something like this: once people choose to opt-in the mailing list when they register, they will be added to Aweber list.

Re: Aweber Intergration

Hey Scott,

I was actually looking at using aweber to handle my newsletter instead of zencart, because i aweber i can narrow it down to where they live. I was also hoping it would only add them to aweber if they tick the subscribe box as with the zencart newsletter and planning on having it double opt in.

Besides it would be a great way to send an email asking for some feedback and a rewiew.

Cheers, ToNy!

Interesting suggestion. The approach I took for MailChimp was to remove newsletter registration from signup and account info so that it's only available in a sidebox - fewer moving parts and failure paths.

Good luck,
Scott

Re: Aweber Intergration

hey, can anyone help me on this? I tried to intregrate aweber into my site but the instruction says

  1. Change "template_default" to your template name.
  2. Upload "includes" folder to shop ROOT Folder.
  3. Login Admin > Tools > Install SQL Patchs (aweber_install.sql to "install it")
  4. And then go to Admin > Configuration > AWeber Configuration to configure it.
  5. Done

it says upload includes folder to shop root folder. If im going to do that, the includes folder in my shop root will be overwrited by the new includes directory of aweber.. it also says in the instruction that ther are no files to overwrite.. im confused... help.....

tnx.. looking forward to your response.. God Bless

Re: Aweber Intergration

Uploading the includes folder is just an easy way to make sure that all the files go to the right place. If there are no overwrites as far as files, you'll be OK.

Most mods work this way, and I've never seen one that messed anything up.

Also, your FTP client should prompt you before overwriting a file.

Re: Aweber Intergration

thank you for that.. :) hey, can anyone help me on this? How would I add this code to my thank you page or login page?

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- BidVertiser Performance Tracker Code var bdv_Performance_Ver = "1.0"; var bdv_AID = 56784711; var bdv_protocol="http://"; if(location.protocol == "https:") { bdv_protocol="https://"; } var bdv_queryStr = "?" + "ver=" + bdv_Performance_Ver + "&AID=" + bdv_AID +"&ref=" + escape(document.referrer); var bdv_imageUrl = bdv_protocol + "secure.bidvertiser.com/performance/pc.dbm" + bdv_queryStr; var bdv_imageObject = new Image(); bdv_imageObject.src = bdv_imageUrl; // --> </SCRIPT> <noscript> <img height=1 width=1 border=0 src="https://secure.bidvertiser.com/performance/pc.dbm?ver=1.0&AID=56784711"> </noscript>

I tried to add that, for some reasons all the text are growing bigger.

Re: Aweber Intergration

I couldn't get the patch to work, so I tried a different method that seems to be working fine.

I substituted the aWeber Java snippet I designed and copied on the aWeber site for one of my "More Information" pages (page_3 in my case). I initially tried to just replace the text in the english.php but it was still a link.

So instead, I went to /includes/modules/sideboxes/more_information.php

Here, I changed replaced the link text with the aWeber Java snippet so the line:

if (DEFINE_PAGE_3_STATUS <= 1) {
$more_information[] = '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_PAGE_3) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_PAGE_3 . '</a>';

became:

if (DEFINE_PAGE_3_STATUS <= 1) {
$more_information[] = '<script type="text/javascript" src="http://forms.aweber.com/form/12/xxxxxxxxxxx.js"></script>';
}

I then added text before the aWeber info:

if (DEFINE_PAGE_3_STATUS <= 1) {
$more_information[] = '<br><br><strong>INSTANT DISCOUNT AND FREE GIFT!<br>Join our <i>free</i> VIP List for discounts and news! We'll send you a FREE PDF book and discount coupon just for signing up! Simply fill in your email and name, then click "Submit."</strong><script type="text/javascript" src="http://forms.aweber.com/form/12/xxxxxxxxxx.js"></script>';
}

I am still designing my site, so it's not yet online, but it's working fine in my tests.
