Fedex Rates incorrect

Sure hope someone can help me with this.

I just installed the Fedex Mod version 1.3.5a (using zencart version 1.3.7) and configured however I seem to be getting the incorrect rates and don't exactly know why. I went through the whole admin panel to see if I was missing something...setting etc. I did find the "tare" config which I zerod out. I've done numerous searches and just have no clue why the rates that come up are so far off from the Fedex site doing a "Get a rate quote". :frusty: Any clues sure would be appreciated.

This would be because the rates thart you are seeing at fedex.com are YOUR rates ( Discounted )
the modules displayes the published rates, ( this is what fedex requires you to display, they wont allow the display of list rates )

Also, from what I understand the actual final shipping charge is not determined until after the item has shipped and been delivered. Fedex gives you an estimate and then adjusts it if needed.

This is confusing to me. Forgive me for not understanding but how can a business owner through ZenCart charge a customer on estimated shipping rates? The only payment options my client will have for payment will be paypal. Any do you know why does Fedex allows published and not list rates to display? Are there other shipping solution models that can work with ZenCart besides the Fedex Mod?

the simple answer is that fedex assumes that you like everyone else will use the published rates,
then they charge you the list rate ( your discount ) allowing you to actually make a little on shipping

they dont alow you to display list rates because these are your DISCOUNT rates and different businesses get different discounts

After testing, the rates that are being returned to zencart are far less than published rates. I'm completely stumped! Please see below as to clearify my dilema. I quoted 1 product .74 lbs and the retured rates are way off. Product is being shipped from 28036 to 68512. What am I missing? Is there something in zencart I need to configure?

I talked with a web integration specialist today with Fedex and she indicated that it has to be something on zencarts end. I'm not sure if I believe that so is there a place I can look like a log file to see what information is being received from Fedex? Thanks so much for you help.

wel after dealing with the fedex folks, you see why we stopped messing with it,

2 years of headaches and Ulcers from them people.....

LOL... It is definately frustrating. Is there anywhere I can look in zencart aside from the cart itself so I can see what is being passed to us? I just need to determine if they are passing us incorrect information.

The specialist I talked to today indicated that there is a new API they came out with this past June. I don't know what that means as far as support for existing API but maybe I'm just taking shots in the dark here!

If this solution doesn't work for my client, I will need to recommend a comparable solution for their shipping setup. They have had an account with Fedex for 3 years and are partial to staying with them. Any recommendations if this doesn't work out?

Tony? Anyone? I most interesting in knowing how the list is captured and if its stored in a zencart table. I looked into the code but with my limited experience in php, I can't figure it out. I just need to know if the fees that were coming up are directly from fedex. I've done all kinds of troubleshooting with no success. I'm really frustrated. Thanks for all the help btw.

what happens is

the package weight ( + Tare weight if there is one )
the ship to and the ship from zip are sent to fedex then they return the rates based on this

as you can see zen cart has nothing to do with the rates, these come straight from fedex

Yeah... I looked into your mod files this morning and seen where the fees come from.. gateway.fedex.com/gatewaydc - wow.. they are feeding me the wrong rates. I just let a message with a fedex web integration specialist and hopefully they will call me back. Thanks Tony for all your help. I can already see why its been a headache and 1/2 dealing with these people! :frusty:

I have the same problem with incorrect rates provided by Fedex.
I checked with shipment from 90040 (Los Angeles - USA) to 75004 (Paris - France), 42 lbs

In Zencart:
FedEx International Priority® $162.50
FedEx International Economy® $182.12

Fedex calculator:
FedEx International Priority® 377.02
FedEx International Economy® 340.82

As you can see, the difference is huge, so if you find out how this can be fixed, I would be very grateful to share the info.

Also I would like to know how it's possible to setup the size of the package, since on Fedex calculator there are differences between different sizes, but on Fedex config I didn't see any configuration option for it.

Well the only thing i can see as per your issue is that you have not change the following options :

go to --> admin, then go to --> configuration, then go to --> shipping/packaging, then change the following to :

Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight 0:0
Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight 0:0

You see that i made it so no extra charge are added to the price.

Reason is that if you dont put it to 0:0 then extra is charge on top of your price you have inputed regarding weight.

eg:

10:3 means 10% more on 3kg and more

so your quotes to customer wont be accurate and charge will be off.

I resolved my problem by putting it to zero. and inputing the info regarding prices and weight in the module for by selecting shipping cost by weight then manually inputing each weight and its price.

eg:

1:4.76,2:5.78,3:10.98, etc.etc.etc.

so it reads like this : up to 1lb = 4.76, up to 2lb = 5.78, etc.etc.etc.

Long process but accurate price charge to the customer by zencart at checkout.

I get extra as per the price are base in the shopping cart and shown to the customer as what regular joblow see at fedex website.

I get charge less by fedex as per i have a business account with them. :)

I price my items by using the attributes and inputing the weight in the weight field located on the right side of the price field.

Can be done also the regular way :

eg :

create product and fill out all the info needed or edit one product then input weight at buttom of the form.

Remeber that the two option to put at zero i mention at the beggining of the post
will affects both ways of charging the product to the customer eg:

I was having problems with incorrect quotes too. This solution made an exact match with Fedex. Thanks :clap:

Has anyone found a way to get more accurate rates from FedEx?
