HSBC online banking and currency conversion question before we go live

STILL waiting for HSBC to send us HASH keys etc - though the question came up today which I had no answer for - and waiting for HSBC to answer it will probably take a week.
When we sell In Euro/dollar/Yen/Drachma or whatever currency abroad - will the amount sent to HSBC for CC debit be in our default £ or the currency displayed on the cart ?? we have multiple currencies available - updated every few days with the UPDATE CURRENCY button (on list of jobs to do - cron the updates on new shop before it goes live) as a guide to our customers, we currently proccess all orders offline in £

Be gratefull if anyone knows the answer to this question - as it could possibly have a significant impact on our bottom line week to week if the currencies only update once a day - and I would also have to look at converting at HSBCs exchange rate rather than the default Zen ones (XE.com and the other one that I can never remember) - I guess 40% of our quite high turn over is non UK

TIA

Normally it would be in your native currency, but I can not speak for HSBC.

What I would suggest is make sure that the currency exchange "padding" be set to cover the exchange rate difference with some breathing room. See Admin> Configuration> My Store> Currency conversion ratio

Re: HSBC online banking and currency conversion question before we go live

The module sends as the 'default' currency.

So, in other words, if you have something that costs US$1000, once you go through the payment screens, HSBC tries to take UK£1000 from your card and at current exchange would hurt quite a bit to our US customers.

Can anyone shed any light on whether or not HSBC refuses to do the exchange on currencies OR (and hopefully) it's the module that is messing something up.

If it's the module, it might be able to get fixed, if it's HSBC, hell would freeze over before they'd help I reckon based on the help we've received so far!

Thanks in advance for any help... The HSBC mod has taken nearly 3 weeks and 1/2 head of grey hair from reading millions of other horror stories. To get it working then to scrap it only because of a currency issue would probably be the last straw for me! :)

Re: HSBC online banking and currency conversion question before we go live

Bit of an update
We have found that if we alow our oversea's customers to use their own currency our payment gateway (HSB-bl**dy-C) trys to take that amount in GBP - regardless of what the chosen currency is - so someone buying in US$ - for example - would choose a £100 item - see it displayed as ~US$200 - then upon purchase be billed £200 (~US$400)
What we need to do I guess is show either both prices (local and GBP) then state we bill in £'s or show local price (IE US$) but only send GBP amount to payment gateway.
Anyone have any ideas ??

Re: HSBC online banking and currency conversion question before we go live

Anybody got the answer to this?

I process offline in £s and want the invoice to reflect the fact that we charge in £s. Is there anyway of doing this? I'd be really grateful!
