Help with server error

I'm attempting to migrate a zen cart store from one server to another, following this article:
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=99

I've uploaded the files from the old server to the new one, as instructed. In step 5, when I go to https://www.mystore.com/catalog/zc_install, I get the following error:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Please help. Thanks.

I need to change the permissions of ALL folders to 755? Also, is there anything that I can do about running php as cgi?

Re: Help with server error

Ok try chmoding the config.php files to 755

php as Cgi is a good thing,
it eliminates the need to have files or folders set to 777
it also allows you to block sending email as nobody.....

More information about this error may be available in the server error log. What details are showing in the server error log at the time when this happens?

What happens if you rename the /zc_install/.htaccess file to htaccess_OFF ?

Re-naming the .htaccess file does not make a difference.

Re: Help with server error

I am having the same problem when trying to checkout using Linkpoint. At the moment, I have Linkpoint set to test mode in the admin. I was one of the less fortunate ones to have set up this cart on a GoDaddy server, just to find out they do not support cURL. So, I have moved the entire shop over to a Network Solutions server, but now seem to be getting the following error:

Internal Server Error
We're sorry for the inconvenience, but there has been an internal server error. Please click on the back button to return to the former page.

The site is http://www.fastceus.org/products

Here is a link to a phpinfo file also: http://www.fastceus.org/products/ven.php

Not really sure what to do next, but I am going to continue to slosh through these forums for an answer.

If anyone can help, it would be MORE than appreciated.

Thanks,

Rene

I'm sorry that you've jumped from the frying pan and into the fire.

There are four hosting environments where folks have repeated problems when trying to run their ecommerce sites:

  • GoDaddy Hosting -- problems using external resources due to limited access even with proxy
  • Network Solutions hosting - problems using SSL with dynamically-served content
  • Fasthosts -- cannot do SSL reliably
  • 1and1 -- weird configurations on many servers

but now seem to be getting the following error:

Here is a link to a phpinfo file also: http://www.fastceus.org/products/ven.php1. What do your server's errorlogs have to say ?

  1. "When" do you get that error? Is it during installation? or Login? or Checkout? etc?

  1. Here is just one of many error logs from the server:

[Thu Sep 27 20:04:04 2007][error] [client 205.178.146.20] Premature end of script headers: index.php, referer: https://www.fastceus.org/products/index.php?main_page=checkout_confirmation

  1. The error happens when confirming the last step of checkout. I have called Network Solutions... No Help. I have called Linkpoint... must call back during business hours.

I'm not really sure where to go next, but it seems to me it is a communication error between Zen Cart and the server. I doubt it's even getting to Linkpoint.

I really apprecite the fast reply and look forward to a hopeful solution as my client is an impatient one!

Thanks again!

Re: Help with server error

Grab the curltest tool from this thread:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=408522#post408522

Upload it to your site, and post a URL to the curltest.php file, so we can use it for some testing.

Re: Help with server error

Okay -- it appears that CURL works fine for HTTP and HTTPS/SSL, but does not work fine on port 1129 which is required for linkpoint. See the timeout here:
http://www.fastceus.org/products/curltest.php?url=https://secure.linkpt.net:1129/LSGSXML

You'll need to get your hosting company to open port 1129 on their firewall.

Re: Help with server error

Yeah, I called Network Solutions to have them check and see if port 1129 was open or to open it and they just told me to open a support ticket. I'll try again and post my results (hopefully with resolutions!).

Thanks!
