Admin pages do not update values !!

Ok, this has been happening since I made my first try with Zen Cart ...

The values in Admin area do not update ... Some values will, but most won't ... Everytime I have tried to name a category, it will not take the name ... The category will appear, but will have no name ... Also when I tried to make the category names appear on the frontpage by following the article here

I got no value (0 or 1) just a blank ... Such problems do not happen all over the admin panel ... Some items do get updated ...

Has anyone ever seen something like this ?
Can anyone help me ?

Update ... solved on my own ...

This started when I could not get the SSL on the site to work and asked the host to enable SSL for the ENTIRE SITE even the HTML pages ... They guy edited the .htaccess file and put a redirect for all HTTP pages to HTTPS ... From then on, the admin panel has been acting up ...
This is also one of the reasons I could not get the favicon to work on my site ... It started working immidiatly after I edited the .htaccess and pasted it back ...
