Where do I upload to?

I own several websites. Does it matter if I initially upload zencart to the site that I'm going to have the cart in, or can I load it on a different site, and then set up the actual shopping cart in a different site?

Also, will I need to redo all the beginning setup steps for every different site I'm going to put a shopping cart into?

Thanks,
Nikki
