Image Titles Support Thread

Image Titles is now available in Downloads.

This mod allows you to substitute images for text in certain locations.

If an image file is found for a title, the image will be displayed; if not, the original text will be displayed.
Each replacement location can be omitted if not wanted.

• You can replace the standard Zen Cart sidebox headers on all pages with images.

• You can replace product titles on product info pages with images.

• Other functions may be added in future versions if requested here.

Would it be possible to add images for text on main index page
i.e. Featured Products, New Products etc centre boxes?

Do you mean centerbox heading titles? I expect I can add that. I've got a big craft show coming up in two weeks so don't have much time at the moment, but I'll accumulate some ideas and work on them when I can.

This turned out to require editing three different files, but it is essentially the same edit for each of them.
Also, I was notified that Image Titles did not support multiple languages. I confess it had never occurred to me since I use only English, but the fix was quite simple, using $_SESSION['language'] and the /buttons/your_language/ subfolder instead of /images/. So:

Version 1.1 is now available in Downloads.
Added support for multiple languages and centerbox headers.

• You can replace the standard Zen Cart featured/new/specials centerbox headers on all pages with images.
• If you use multiple languages, you can automatically display a different image for each language.

I'm not really sure how to use your mod. I'm new somewhat to Zen Cart and like everyone, still learning. Can you give me a small example that might help me to understand how to implement your mod? I would appreciate it very much!

Also I have an image that I want to use for the "categories" sidebox but I don't know what directory to put it in or what I should name the image file.

I'm guessing that it's a naming convention error but I have tried most logical name changes and don't seem to be able to come up with one that works.

After doing yet some more reading I was able to come up with all the answers to my questions. Thanks for your help.

Just installed the image titles mod, but my images 'spill' over the sidebox;

I can't find what could be causing it - I've removed the padding within the css file, but only moved it left slightly.

Any ideas at all please?

The images are used as foreground images, so if they are larger than the "standard" space your title occupies they will expand the header box.

Also, if the standard title has padding, that will be added to the image dimensions. Code to account for this is posted in the Hiding the sidebox heading fonts/links.... thread, post #14.

I am trying to change the Whos Online text in the sidebox to an image. I originally used the instructions HERE and was successful in changing everything except whos online.

So then I downloaded and installed the Image Titles and I am a bit confused about this part

Name your header title images like boxhead-categories.gif and save in /your_template/buttons/your_language/. Look in view source to get the box id at the top of each sidebox output.

Ok so what exactly do you do with the box id - where exactly does it go?

The image filename for each sidebox needs to include the name (id) of the sidebox.

The categories box has an id of categories, so its image file will be named boxhead-categories.gif.

I've been chipping away at this all afternoon, looking at endless posts but have not found a similar problem.
Let me just start by saying the same thing everyone else does - I'm a total ZenCart noob - I've put together quite a few other CMS sites, and see how dramatically different ZC is from the others I've done.
So, I installed the awesome Image Titles mod so that I could add images to my sidebar boxes, and hopefully eventually to the main level of my dropdown menu as well (but that's a whole nother problem right now!). The template is a heavily modified version of Apple Zen (not even close to being finished tweaking with yet...)
The very first thing that happened was that I lost all the sideboxes and the main navigation bar on the main page - they just completely disappeared when I refreshed the page after the initial install of the files. When you click on the link for "Great Gifts" it takes you to a different page, and there they are again! I'm trying not to panic, but...why??? :huh: All I did was rename the folders as instructed, and add some images (at least some are correctly named, or they wouldn't show up at all, right?), although I MIGHT have touched some other files while I floundering around before I discovered the mod... Do you have any ideas about what I could have done to mess this up??

Actually, I just looked at the page again and found this error message at the bottom of the index page:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: zen_get_generated_category_path_rev() in PATHREMOVED/includes/modules/aubizenred/new_products.php on line 69

I just double-checked, and there is no difference between the stock v1.3.8 version of /includes/modules/new_products.php and the Image Titles version in /includes/modules/your_template/new_products.php except for the comment at the top of the file and the actual mod code on lines 84-87. I don't see how this could cause the reported error on line 69, so I think you need to investigate what other files you might have touched.

The new products mess up only on the home page, and work fine on others, so I doubt it is directly caused by the mod. If you don't need to use image titles for the new products centerbox, you can delete /includes/modules/aubizenred/new_products.php without affecting anything else. (You might try changing it temporarily to /includes/modules/aubizenred/new_products.bak to see if the problem still exists with the default copy of the file.)

I did rename the file and immediately got back my navigation and sideboxes on the home page. I'm still a bit (ok, a lot) confused about what I might've done to other files to mess this up, but I'll keep looking at it.

Now I have another question:
Does this mod allow me to use an image for the top level in the horizontal menu bar? How should I name the images for that?
