Event Calendar v3

Hi,

Has anyone found a fix to the problem #17 posted by bettysue.

I'm running into the same problem, one thing I don't understand is that I'm running an exact copy of my website on a xampp server and is working perfectly, I upload this add on to my live site and I had to fix several problems to include this: TABLE_HEADING_ID TABLE_HEADING_SIZE TABLE_HEADING_TITLE TABLE_HEADING_DATE_ADDED TABLE_HEADING_DATE_START TABLE_HEADING_DATE_END TABLE_HEADING_LINKS Action

TEXT_NO_EVENTS

this is what I get on my event manger on my admin. One other thing. I have to input the url directly because the link does not show on Admin>Extras.

Thanks

Re: Event Calendar v3

Found a fix to this problem. Posted by Ajeh here.

I first uploaded admin/includes/languages/english/event_manager.php thru my host cPanel and got rid of the TABLE_HEADING... etc... Once that was fix, instead of uploading all the files one at a time, I uploaded them using my FTP software on Binary mode. Everything works perfect now.

Later...

Re: Event Calendar v3

I moved my perfectly working cart with calendar module to a new server and the entire site crashed. I couldn't get into admin and on the home page the calendar module disappeared.

The problem was actually fairly straightforward - the comments were being delineated with // instead of /** and */ . I changed each of the files and it now seems to be working.

I also had the above table headings problems until I removed the comment.

This is a really nice module and does work perfectly. It works fine on a windows server without the change.

I did have to fiddle quite a lot with the iframe and the CSS. Have a look at https://www.grandifloradirect.co.za

Mine is working in 1.3.7 BUT if you go straight from the home page to the shopping cart (to complete an order) the back button now goes to the calendar (now full screen on main_page.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful.

I had this same problem as this. I'm still working on getting my site converted to Zen Cart, but I had this mod installed on my oSC cart and had the same problem. Works fine until you git a back button and if goes right to the calendar.

I saw the mod was adapted for zen cart so I thought I would try it here and sure enough, it does the same thing with this cart so it's something with the mod since it was ported over from oSC. Not sure what.

I ended up removing from my oSC cart and had to do the same with Zen Cart. Too bad, it's a nice mod.

What fiddling did you have with the iframe? If you look at my site, the site background is on top of the calendar... Is there a way to "force" this to white like the rest of the calendar. I've looked at iframes ( and the problems with using them! ), but didn't find the fix for it. Check it out and let me know any ideas.

Re: Event Calendar v3

This is my stuff - hopefully it will fix your problem and then you can adapt for your own colours, images and styles.

All go within the YOUR_TEMPLATE folder (i.e. the template you are actually using for your site.)

Good luck!

Re: Event Calendar v3

Can this handle paid events? I have a website that holds sewing classes. i would like to use this calendar or something similar to be able to allow customers to make reservations and pay for the classes. I know I can do it in Joomla, but this site is a fabric/sewing store with classes on the side.

Re: Event Calendar v3

Hello,

I am new to Zencart, so please forgive me if this is a silly question.

I have installed the Events Calendar before and it has worked fine. This is my 2nd install, and I seem to have hit a road block. After install, (using the Comstock template) the calendar didn't show up in the left or right column. I reinstalled all of the files and checked to make sure that the table was in my database, and that it held a couple of events.

In frustration, I tried to go directly to the Events Calander page, and I got this error:

1146 Table 'brenda_nres.zen_events_calendar' doesn't exist
in:
[select *, DAYOFMONTH(start_date) AS day, MONTH(start_date) AS month, YEAR(start_date) AS year from zen_events_calendar where start_date >= '2008-04-27 12:32:26' and language_id = '1' order by start_date]

Aha! The table is not named "zen_events_calendar", it is named "events_calendar". I tried to change the table name to "zen_events_calendar", but that didn't work. So now my question is, where is the appropriate file(s) to change "zen_events_calendar" into "events_calendar"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and save me a great headache. :smile:

DezineJunkie, did you ever get this straightened out? I seem to be having the same problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Event Calendar v3

Yippee! :clap: I found a solution for the display problem in the Apple Zen template.

Problem: When I clicked on an event to view details, all of the side boxes displayed on the left, below the details. Finally realized, it was because the table was taking up all three columns in the template.

Solution: Open up includes/templates/apple_zen/templates/tpl_events_calendar_default.php. On line 64 change:

<table border="0" **width="100%"** cellspacing="3" cellpadding="3" align="left">

to

<table border="0" **width="80%"** cellspacing="3" cellpadding="3" align="left">

Now the sideboxes should display in the right column!

Oh happy day. I had a moment of clarity.

Re: Event Calendar v3

bettysue:

Anyone had the problem in Admin of the event manager showing up with the options like this ?:

TABLE_HEADING_ID TABLE_HEADING_SIZE TABLE_HEADING_TITLE TABLE_HEADING_DATE_ADDED TABLE_HEADING_DATE_START TABLE_HEADING_DATE_END TABLE_HEADING_LINKS Action

TEXT_NO_EVENTS

All of the files have been uploaded (except the ones starting with the period) and the db patch applied. Don't know what I could have missed.

thank you,

betty

ok, maybe im just being a newbie but on adding conrtibutions we are not supposed to add the ones starting with a period?

i would love to use this, but when i did it broke my admin area. i couldnt log in. i was forced to delete everything just to get my access back.

Re: Event Calendar v3

Is anyone using this in 1.3.8?

It seemed to install for me OK. I have a few funky layout issues to resolve, but should be able to sort that out.

The bigger issue is that when try to add an event, there is no button for me to save my new event, and there is an error on the screen, towards the bottom right of the link area, and then nothing beyond that. I have two pop-up menus in my link area (Manufacturers and Categories) and then the error.

The error is

Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /home/user/public_html/admin/includes/classes/table_block.php on line 77

Any thoughts?

Ps. This is a php 5 server. That smacks of a php 4 vs 5 issue.

I was using 1.3.8 also. I am not sure what part i did wrong. I was forced to delete the entire upload to get access back into the admin side. I didnt copy the error code, just stated some fatal error from ._events_manager.php

so again, should i not be uploading the files with the ._ before the file name?

Have you moved these files around a Mac or something? Those ._ files are (in my experience) hidden system files created by Mac OS and are garbage. I would not upload them and I do not believe they are part of the package.

no i haven't, they were included in the version i downloaded. it was events_calendar_1-01RC1

basically, every file had a duplicate file with the ._ in front of it? So, those are for Mac systems only? sorry, have been pc guy for 25 yrs or so. never seen them before.

ok, took quite a few tries but i fixed this part.

i changed the lines to the following

          $contents = array();
          $tableBox_string .= '>' . $contents[$i]['text'] . '</td>' . "\n";

by adding the array line, it removes the error
